Min - City Council - 1968 - 04/08 - Special CalledSpecial Meeting CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF ALLEN, ALLEN, TEXAS April 8th 1968 Purpose of this meeting was to canvis and approve the election for the CITY OFFICALS and the 1% City sales Tax. with the following members present: Mayor Gentry T. Jones, AldermenDan Strong, LeRoy Ewen, Robert Lowman and Mack Holloway. Motion by Dan Strong that the Council approves the CITY ELECTION and Also the CITY 1% SALES TAX. Motion second by Robert Lowman. Motion passed (4) four for / none(0) against Mayor Jones Gave the OATH OF OFFICE to FRANK DUGGER for the office of MAYOR. Claude D. Whitaker and Dan Strong for the office of ALDERMEN. The Council and several of our local citizens discussed the Sewer- Line problem on the 21" out-fall Line. After a lengthy discussion, Mr Roy A. Hefner suggested that it is up-to the City Council to work out the Sewer problem. Leland McJunkins and T.H. Ereckson presented some cost figures on setting up a Base-Ball diamond , such as Materials-Labor- Fixturs- and ect., at approximate cost of between $1,500.00 to 1,600.00, including 100 light fixtures . Mr. Robert Lowman expresses himself that he would like for the City of Allen to at least finance one Ball Diamond to be in operation by May 27, 1968. Motion by LeRoy Ewen that the City of Allen help the Little League Base-Ball set up their field in the amount of $ 1,565.00. (which was the expressed amount needed). Motion second by Mack Holloway. Motion passed (5) five for / none (0) against. Motion by Dan Strong that we have a purchase order set-up by the City Motion sec. by Robert Lowman. Motion passed ayes 5 / noes 0. Appointment of another Council member to be brought up at the next regular meeting. (4-18-68) Meeting adjourned by LeRoy Ewen. These minutes read and approved this the 18 day of April 1968.
