O-360-9-81ORDINANCE NO. 360 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, SETTING, FIXING, AND ADOPTING THE TAX RATE FOR THE CITY OF ALLEN, TEXAS, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING OCTOBER 1, 1981, AND ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 1982; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE FOR THIS ORDINANCE. WHEREAS, pursuant to motion duly seconded, passed and approved on August 27, 1981, the City Council stated its intention to consider an increase in taxes for the Fiscal Year 1981 - 1982 which exceeds the rate calculated and announced by the Tax Assessor pursuant to Article 7244c, V.T.C.S., by more than 30; and, WHEREAS, pursuant to such resolution, a "Notice of Tax Increase" was published in The Allen American, in all things as required by law on August 31, 1981, said public notice giving notice of a public hearing to be held on Tuesday, September 8, 1981, at 8:00 p.m., in the Council Chambers of the Rountree Elementary School in Allen, Texas, the subject of such public hearing to be the proposed increase of taxes for tax year 1981 - 1982; and, WHEREAS, at the designated date, time and place, said public hearing was held, and all persons desiring to speak were afforded an opportunity to present their views with regard to this subject; and, WHEREAS, at the conclusion of such public hearing, it was announced in open meeting on behalf of the City Council that the City Council shall vote on a proposed tax increase at its regular meeting of September 17, 1981, said meeting commencing at 7:30 p.m., and to be conducted in the Council Chambers of the Rountree Elementary School, 800 East Main Street, Allen, Texas; and, WHEREAS, pursuant to Article 7244c, V.T.C.S., notice of the meeting as described above, at which the City Council shall vote on the proposed tax increase, was published in The Allen American on Thursday, September 17, 1981, in all things as required by law; and, ORDINANCE NO. 360 Page 2 WHEREAS, upon full review and consideration of the matter, the City Council is of the opinion that the tax rate set, fixed, and adopted hereinbelow is proper and should be adopted for the Fiscal Year 1981 - 1982; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, TEXAS: Section 1. The findings of fact, recitations, and other matters set out in preamble of this ordinance are hereby adopted and made a part of the body of this ordinance the same as if each had been fully recited herein in full. Section 2. There is hereby levied and shall be assessed for the tax year 1981 of the City of Allen an ad valorem tax of thirty-six cents ($0.36) on each One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) valuation of property within the limits of the City of Allen and subject to taxation. Section 3. Such ad valorem tax shall be appropriated between the Debt Service Fund and the General Fund as follows, to -wit: For the General Fund .21489 For the Debt Service Fund .145110 Total .3600 Section 4. The Tax Assessor -Collector of the City of Allen is hereby directed to assess, for the 1981 tax year, the rates and amounts herein levied, and when such taxes are collected, to distribute the collections in accordance with this ordinance. Section 5. This ordinance shall become effective immediately from and after its passage. DULY PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, TEXAS, ON THE 17th DAY OF SEPTEMBER , 1981.
