Min - Animal Shelter Advisory Committee - 2019 - 11/20 - Regular ANIMAL SHELTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 20,2019 Present: Absent: Deborah Michnick, Chair Pamela Ackerman,Vice-Chair Gail Smallin, Secretary Dr. Alan Coffman Deputy Chief Ken Myers City Council Liaison Lauren Doherty Call to Order With a quorum of the Board members present,the Regular Meeting of the Animal Shelter Advisory Committee was called to order by Chair Michnick at 6:59 p.m. on Wednesday,November 20, 2019, at the Animal Shelter Conference Room located in the Allen Animal Shelter, 707 S Allen Heights Drive,Allen,Texas 75002. 1. Approve Minutes of the August 28,2019 Regular Meeting. The minutes were approved by the acclamation of the board. 2. Conduct election of officers for the 2020 year. Officer positions will stay the same by the acclamation of the board. 3. Update on adoptable kennel floor replacement warranty issue. Repairs of the floor in the adoptable kennel room have been completed. 4. Update on Abby's Lounge. Abby's Lounge is now completed and being used daily. In order to decrease germs going from cat to cat,the public is no longer allowed in the cat room. Instead the public can visit with individual cats in the lounge. 5. Update on city registration and wildlife utility bill insert. An insert with a copy of the city's pet registration form and coyote/bobcat fact sheet will be included in December's Utility bills. 6. Update on coyote/bobcat concerns. Chair Michnick states that there are approximately 75 coyotes and/or bobcats in the city.An On-line reporting system for sightings of wildlife is currently available for public use.Animal shelter staff is reaching out to HOA's to promote different methods to eliminate wildlife from making dens near people's homes. From 2018 until October of 2019 there has been an increase in the daily average occupancy,pet registrations,donations to the shelter,visitors and shelter events.A decrease was noted in Impoundments, strays, adoptions, bite investigations and citations issued. 8. Discuss and Make a Recommendation to the City Council regarding Proposed Revisions to Chapter 3,Animals and Fowl,of the Code of Ordinances and/or Standard Operating Procedures. Standard Operating procedures have been completed. 9. Discuss Upcoming Events: December 2019—Rudolph Run and Santa Paws Adoption Event. March 2020—Pirouettes for Pets Adjournment MOTION: Upon a motion made by Chair Michnick and a second by Dr.Coffman,the Board voted Six(6) for and none (0) opposed to adjourn the Regular Meeting of the Animal Shelter Advisory Committee at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday,November 2019.
