RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE COLLIN COUNTY COUNCIL FOR
HUMAN SERVICES
WHEREAS, there is a rising public need for human services, and
WHEREAS, there is an abundance of community agencies providing many
different human service programs generally not coordinated with each other; and
WHEREAS, an individual who desires to avail him/herself of such services
as medical care, transportatican, assisted housing, nutrition and other programs,
does not have a central point of contact from which he/she can obtain information
about or be refereed to an agency providing these services; and
WHERFAS, the City of Allen is desirous that individuals seeking assistance
can obtain access to these services readily; and
WHEREAS, the Collin County Council for Human Services has established a
county wide information and referral service to link individuals to community
agencies and social services by calling 542-3822; and
WHBREAS,`,the cost of this service partially through funds obtained through
a federal grant and partially through funds received from local governnents and other
community based service organizations; and
WHEREAS, the City of Allen would like to encourage local service clubs
and organizations to contribute their .fair share toward the maintenance of this
information and referral service.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Citytof Allen through their Elected
City Council do hereby support the Collin County Council's information and referral
service and as witness thereto do contribute one hundred dollars($100) toward the
maintenance of this service for the fiscal year 1979-80.

WHEREAS, the City of Allen has the moral and legal
responsibility for providing for the safety of its citizens
during times of emergency; and
WHEREAS, it has been proven that proper planning and
preparation for potential emergencies can increase greatly
the safety of the citizens of Allen; and
WHEREAS, there exists supplemental funding from the
Defense Civil Preparedness Agency of the United States Gov-
ernment to assist in emergency planning for the City of
Allen;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ALLEN, TEXAS:
(1) The Civil Preparedness Coordinator of the City
of Allen is authorized and instructed to make application
to the Defense Civil Preparedness Agency for matching funds
to be used for the Planning and Administration of the Civil
Preparedness program of this City; and
(2) The City Manager of the City of Allen is authorized
and directed to administer the funds acquired through such
a grant in accordance with the regulations and proceedures
of the Defense Civil Preparedness Agency.
