R-279-10-79CITY OF ALLEN P.O. BOX 487 ALLEN, TEXAS 75002 RESOLUTION NO. 279 WHEREAS, the City of Allen, Texas, has the moral and legal responsibility for providing for the safety of its citizens during times of emergency; and WHEREAS, it has been proven that adequate and timely warning is essential in reducing casualties and property damage during times of emergency; and WHEREAS, matching Federal funding for emergency equipment and warning devices has been eliminated for the 1980 fiscal year, thus rendering it impossible for the City of Allen to continue to develop its warning system to match its rapid rate of growth; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, TEXAS: (1) The City of Allen, Texas, requests that funding for outdoor warning equipment and related devices be restored for the 1980 fiscal year; and (2) It is requested that the funds be made available for administration through the Federal Emergency Management Agency in the like and same manner as has previously been administered by the Defense Civil Preparedness Agency; and (3) The City Secretary of the City of Allen, Texas, is directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the appropriate Federal officials and representatives of the Citizens of Allen.
