A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, DELEGATING THE DUTIES
OF THE SIGN CONTROL BOARD, AS CREATED IN THE CITY
OF ALLEN SIGN REGULATIONS ORDINANCE NO. 374-10-81,
TO THE SAME BODY OF PERSONS APPOINTED TO SERVE AS
THE ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT, AS ESTABLISHED IN
SECTION 4.04 OF THE CITY OF ALLEN COMPREHENSIVE
ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 366-10-81; THAT THE BOARD ACT
IN SEPARATE SESSIONS SO AS TO DISTINGUISH APPEALS
OR VARIANCES ALLOWED UNDER THE SIGN CONTROL BOARD
FROM THOSE OF THE ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT; AND
PROVIDING THAT SUCH SESSIONS BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH
THE POWERS AND DUTIES SET FORTH FOR EACH BOARD
UNDER THE INDIVIDUAL ORDINANCES.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Allen, Texas,
did, by adoption, establish the Zoning Board of Adjustment
under Section 4.04 of the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance
No. 366-10-81 of the City of Allen in accordance with the
provisions of Article 1011g Revised Civil Statutes of Texas
regarding the zoning of cities and with the powers and duties
as provided in such statutes; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Allen, Texas,
did create, by adoption of the Sign Regulations Ordinance
No. 374-10-81 of the City of Allen, a Sign Control Board; and,
WHEREAS, the said City Council finds that the best interest
of the citizens of Allen will be served by delegating the duties
of the Sign Control Board to the same body of persons duly
appointed by the City Council as the Zoning Board of Adjustment
for the City of Allen; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council in delegating such duties to the
same persons serving as the Zoning Board of Adjustment requires
that matters relating to the boards be conducted in separate
sessions, and under separate powers, duties, and regulations
of the respective boards as set forth in the Comprehensive
Zoning Ordinance No. 366-10-81 and the Sign Regulations Ordinance
No. 374-1-81 of the City of Allen, Texas.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ALLEN, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The duties of the Sign Control Board as
set forth in the Sign Regulations Ordinance No. 374-10-81
of the City of Allen, Texas, are hereby delegated to the

same body of persons duly appointed to serve as
members of the Zoning Board of Adjustment established
under Section 4.04 of the Comprehensive Zoning
Ordinance No. 366-10-81 of the City of Allen, Texas.
SECTION 2. Appeals, variances, hearings, or any
action of the respective boards shall be conducted
in separate sessions and the powers, duties, and
regulations of the Sign Control Board shall prevail
in all sessions and action related to the Sign
Regulations Ordinance No. 374-10-81 of the City of
Allen, Texas, and the duties, powers, and regulations
of the Zoning Board of Adjustment shall prevail in
all sessions and actions related to the Comprehensive
Zoning Ordinance No. 366-10-81.
SECTION 3. This resolution shall remain in force
until such time as the City Council finds that an
appointment of a separate body of persons for each
of the above mentioned boards shall be in the best
interest of the citizens of Allen and at that time
this resolution shall become null and void.
