Min - City Council - 1973 - 11/15 - RegularREGULAR MEETING November 15, 1973 City Council, City of Allen Present: Mayor: Frank Dogger Councilmen: C.D. Whitaker, Clifford Hart, Johnny Pannell, Johnnie Blankenship. Absent: Bob Lowman. Motion C.D. Whitaker Second Johnny Pannell that minutes of previous meeting be approved as read. Motion Carried 4 For 0 Against. The 1973 Allen Eagle Football Teat along with it's Coaches were recognized by Council for their outstanding play in winning the 16A District Football Champ- ionship and advancing into the State Play Offs. Harry Bomar and Mike LaFon, representing Texas Power & Light Company, appeared before Council requesting a rate increase for electrical service in the City of Allen. The rate of increase would be approximately 10%. Motion C.D. Whitaker Second Clifford Hart that rate increase be approved. Motion Carried 4 For � Against. Motion C.D. Whitaker Second Clifford Hart that Ordinance No. 158 be approved increasing the Gross Receipts Tax from Texas Power & Light Company from 2% to 3%. Motion Carried 4 For 0 Against. Marvin Churchwell & Buddy Sheppard appeared before Council to present the Final Plat on Fountain Park No 3. Motion C.D. Whitaker second Johnny Pannell that Plat be approved subject to review by the City Engineer. Motion Carried 4 For 0 Agains George W. Martin appeared before Council seeking a Night Dispatcher for the Police Department. Council advised Mr. Martin that at this time it was not econom- ically feasable for the City to hire a Dispatcher at this time. Mrs Jerry Yates appeared before Council and spoke of conditions existing in the Fountain Park Addition, such as tall grass growing, an open Cess pool, odor from sewer line ; also she was still pursueing the effort to get Door to Door Mail Service in the City. Mickey Pierson appeared before Council and spoke in regards to forming a Blood Bank For Allen. The Blood -Mobile from Wadley Research Center in Dallas is to be in Town on Wednesday December 12th frac 3:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. . A goal of 100 pints of Blood is hoped for at this time. A Committee consisting of Richard Chumbley, Ramon Womack & Dr. Vita has been appointed by the Jaycees to screen applications for use of this Blood. Council agreed to Proclaim December 12th as a Blood Drive Day for Allen. Motion C.D. Whitaker Second Clifford Hart that Meeting adjourn. Motion Carried 4 For 0 Against.
