Min - City Council - 1974 - 02/07 - RegularREGULAR MEETING February 7, 1974 City Council, City of Allen Present: Mayor Frank Dugger Councilmen: C.D. Whitaker, Clifford Hart, Johnny Pannell, Johnnie Blankenship & Robert E. Lowman. Motion Bob Lowman Second Johnny Pannell that minutes of previous meeting be approved as read. Motion Carried 5 For 0 Against. Marvin Churchwell, representing Charles G. Starnes & Associates, appeared before Council in regard to the Final Plat on Fountain Park A. Motion C.D. Whitaker Second Johnny Pannell that Plat be approved subject to approval by City Engineer. Motion Carried 5 For 0 Against. Motion C.D. Whitaker Second Johnny Pannell that Mayor be given authority to renew water contract with North Texas Municipal Water District. Motion Carried 5 For 0 Against. Request was presented to Couftcil from the State Highway Department releasing an easement by City on property located at State Highway 121 and U.S. Highway 75. This is a State owned borrow easement and is no longer needed by the Highway Department. Motion Bob Lowman Second C.D. Whitaker that Resoluation be adopted by City releasing this easement. Motion Carried 5 For 0 Against. Motion Bob Lowman Second Johnnie Blankenship that April 6th be set as date for City Officers Election. Motion Carried 5 For 0 Against. Council and Library Board held joint meeting and discussed moving the Library to new quarters in the Shelton House. Motion Bob Lowman Second Clifford Hart that $7,297.00 be alloted to the Library to be used in remodeling the house for a Library. Motion Carried 5 For 0 against. Motion Bob Lowman Second Clifford Hart that bills presented be approved. Motion Carried 5 For 0 Against. Council tabled discussion on 65 year old Homestead Exemption untill next regular meeting, so as to allow Tax Assessor to compile information as to the approximate loss in revenue that the City will lose if this exemption is granted. Motion C.D. Whitaker Second Bob Lowman that purchase order discussion be tabled untill next regular meeting. Motion Carried 5 For 0 Against. Dale Williams, representating the Little League, appeared before Council asking information as to the operation of the League for the coming year. Council asked Mr. Williams permission to table phis item untill next regular meeting so as to allow them time to study the situation. This item is to be first on the agenda at next Council meeting. Motion C.D. Whitaker Second Clifford Hart that Chief of Police Jerry Burton be authorized to purchase new lights for the new police car at a cost of $575.00. Motion Carried 5 For 0 Against. 6S I Motion C.D. Whitaker Second Bob Lowman that Ordinance No. 160 prohibiting fencing of the easements In Windridge Addition be adopted. Motion Carried 5 For 0 Against. Motion Bob Lowman Second Clifford Hart that Proclamation be adopted. designating February 10-16 as Electrical Week. Motion Carried 5 For 0 Against.
