Min - City Council - 1976 - 06/03 - RegularREGULAR SESSION June 3, 1976 City Council, City of Allen Present: Mayor Frank Dagger Councilnersons: Bob Lowman, H.C. Brooks, Jr., Charles Chandler and Eileen Tollett. Absent: Mickey Pierson. Motion Bob Lowman Second Charles Chandler that minutes of last meeting be approved as read. Motion carried 4 for 0 against. Boyd Williams of Texas Power and Light appeared in reference to the easements in the Windridge addition. Mr. Williams advised that all they need is a 5' easement in the area except for the easements to the north of Hawthorne and here they will need 10'. Dennis Miller of the addition said that all he wanted was some guidelines to go by. Mr. Williams said that he would furnish the City with a letter stating the same thing he had said this evening. Dan Eddy of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company appeared in reference to easements in Windridge also and he advised that they can live with the same easements that T.P. & L can except for Lot 2 Block4 which is the center of communications for the entire area. Mayor advised that this must be worked out with the owners of this property. Hi daugherty ofthe water commission appeared and advised that hte commission was working diligently on the rate proposal and that they will have their final proposal ready for the Council meeting on June 17, 1976. Mayor Dogger discussed the fact that the City's insurance policys were coming up for renewal in July and he had contacted several agencys about assessing the value of the property and that the low bid was $900.00 which he thought was too high. Don Brazaele, a local State Farm Agent, advised that his Company had people that would do this at no cost. Mayor advised him to proceed at once. Council looked at catalogs for the purpose of deciding on some new chairs for the Council chambers. Council decided that we should purchase 50 chairs and to let them on bids. Robin Streff could not be in attendance tonight however,she left a memo for the Council requesting that the City allocate $500.00 for the Summer Recreation Program and that her workers salaries be $2.30 per hour. Motion Bob Lowman Second H.C. Brooks, Jr., to allocate $500.00 to the Ammer recreation Department and that the workers be paid $2.30 per hour. Motion carried 4 for 0 against. Dick Light of the Allen Jaycees appeared in reference to the park in Walden Park and the problems that have arisen with Mr. Jonathan Kutner in fulfilling his obligations to said project. Council advised Mr. Light that we would geton this problem immediately and get Mr. Kutner to fulfill his obligations. Paul gatewood discussed the possibility of getting metro lines for Allen. Mayor Dagger advised that City will contact Southwestern Bell Telephone and see whit their can be done to secure metro lines. Motion Bob Lowman Second Charles Chandler to pay bills. Motion carried 4 for 0 against. Jim Eaton, Director of Public Wroks, appeared in refernce to a backhoe for the water and sewer department. Council advised Mr. Eaton to come up with specs and get bids on backhoe. Motion Bob Lowman Second Eileen Tollett that meeting adjourn. Motion carried 4 for 0 against.
