Min - City Council - 1976 - 06/17 - RegularREGUTAR SESSION June 17, 1976 City Council, City of Allen Present: Mayor Frank Dugger Councilpersons:Mickey Pierson, Charles Chandler, Eileen Tollett, Bob Lowman and H.C. Brooks, Jr.. Motion Bob Lowman Second Charles Chandler that minutes of last meeting be approved as read. Motion carried 5 for 0 against. Motion Mickey Pierson Second Eileen Tollett to set 6-25-76 at 7:00 p.m. as date for equalization board meeting. Motion carried 5 for 0 against. Motion Mickey Pierson Second Bob Lowman to appoint A.R. Daugherty, T.A. Erickson, and Leland McJunkins to equalization board. Motion carried 5 for 0 against. H.R. Daugherty, spokesman of the water commission, and Pete Yurgensen presented their study to the Council along with their recommendations. Council advised that they could see no reason that the water commissions plan could not be adopted, and set July 1, 1976 as the date to set new water and sewer rates. Mayor Dugger Commended the water commission for their long hours of study and the effort they put forth. He also asked that the commission continue to help the City in further studies. The proposal of the water commission will be attached to these minutes. Mayor Dugger advised that he has written Southwestern Bell Telephone requesting metro lines for Allen and that his letter along with Bell's answer would be published in the Allen American. Motion Charles Chandler Second Mickey Pierson to adjourn to City Hall. Motion carried 5 for 0 against. Meeting reconveined at City Hall. Roger Powell of Planning and Zoning advised that they need a resolution from the City so that they they may have a new study made. Motion Bob Lowman Second Mickey Pierson to file application for new comprehensive study. Motion carried 5 for 0 against. Gibson Harris of 401 daisy requested to be granted a side yard variance exception. Motion Bob Lowman Second H.C. Brooks, Jr., to deny request. Motion carried 5 for 0 against. Charles Claytor of Allen Building Company requested a s yard variance exception. Motion Mcikey Pierson Second B.C. Brooks, Jr. to approve request. Motion caried 4 for 1 against. Bob Lowman voted against. Robin Streff's letter was read to council, reporting on progress of Summer recreation program. Council advised Jim Eaton to get bids on new :bac)d3ee.
