Min - City Council - 1976 - 08/05 - RegularREGULAR SESSION AUGUST 5, 1976 City Council, City of Allen Present: Mayor Frank Dogger Councilpersons: Bob Lowman, Eileen Tollett, H.C. Brooks, Jr., Charles Chandler and Mickey Pierson. Motion Lowman Second Chandler that minutes of last meeting be approved as read with the exception that sewage for commercial buildigns is ¢25 per thousand over 10,000 gallons usage. Motion carried 5 for 0 against. Public hearing was held on the request of R.J. Potter to annex his property 15 acres at Allen Heights Dr. and 2170. No one spoke in opposition. Motion Pierson Second Lowman to annex 15 acres of land at the corner of Allen Heights Dr. and 2170. Motion carried 5 for 0 against. Letter of recommendation from Planning and zoning Commission approving Windridge II sub -division was read. Water Superintendent Jim Eaton advised the Council that there were some changes that needed to be made. Mr. Eaton advised that the plat called for a 4" water line which the state insurance board would not approve and also that there were 3 valves that he thought should be added. Motion Pierson Secondlowman to approve plat with the changes per Jim Eaton. Motion carried 4 for 0 against. Councilperson Tollett abstained from voting . A copy of her reason is attached hereto. Mr. Triplett appeared and advised the Council that he would like to be considered when bids were let for sanitation contract. Council advised that they would draw up the specifications they wanted and would make them abailable for anyone that wanted to bid. Motion Pierson Second Lowman to approve tax roll. Motion carried 5 for 0 against. Mrs. Carr appeared in reference to the ditch at Allen Heights Dr. and Roaming Road. She advised that the weeds wee extremely high herae and created a hazard and that stagnant water stood here. Mayor Dogger advised her that this ditch would be repaired as soon as bids were let on this project, but that to help alleviate her problem the City would clean this ditch out within the next week. Bob Acker appeared and expressed his thanks to the City for sending the 4 men to the A & M Fire School. Mr. Acker also had 3 requests. He wanted $100.00 for a good fire prevention week 6 Motion Lowman Second Pierson to allocate $100.00 : M for fire prevention weekr. Acker also requested that on commercial buildings building permits be held 7 days so that the Fire Chief and Fire Marshall can examine the plans to see if it is safe. Motion Lowman Second Pierson to hold all commercial building permits for 7 days. Motion carried 5 for 0 against. Mr . Acker also wanted permission to get with Ron Gentry, Carl Gillilland and Walter Curtis to amend the Southern Building Code Fire. Council advised Mr. Acker to amend the code as needed and that then the Council would look at the recommended changes and vote accordingly. Pete Yurgvnsen appeared in reference to Park at Wlden Park. Council advised mr. Yurgensen that necessary action would be taken to get lots cleaned up in the addition and to get the problem on this property at Walden Park straightened up at once. Paul Parker asked for specil permit to build a 1 bedroom frame h+Ilding in back of his house to house his father-in-law who is in 111 health. Council advised that all is needed is for Mr. Parker to obtain letters form neighbors in the area giving their consent. Motion carried 5 for 0 against. Motion Brooks Second Lowman to pay bills.
