' A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN
COUNTY, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN
INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY OF MCKINNEY FOR THE
OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC SIGNALS ALONG SH 1211 AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

WHEREAS, the North Texas region continues to experience dramatic growth as the area's population now
exceeds 5.7 million people; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Allen (hereafter "City") and Collin County have doubled in population during the
last decade with an expected population of 95,000 and 1.2 million people respectively by 2030; and,
WHEREAS, motorist delay and congestion on our regions (local thoroughfare networks are expected to
double in the next 25 years; and,
WHEREAS, the efficient operation and maintenance of traffic signals along municipal boundary corridors is
an important strategy in reducing motorist delay and congestion.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The Allen City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager to execute an Interlocal
Agreement with the City of McKinney for the operation and maintenance of traffic signals along SH 121
between US 75 and Alma Road.
SECTION 2. This Resolution shall become effective immediately from and after its passage.
