' A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN
COUNTY, TEXAS, APPROVING THE SUBMITTAL OF APPLICATIONS TO THE
TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION STATEWIDE
TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM FOR PROJECT
NOMINATIONS PROVIDED BY THE SAFE, ACCOUNTABLE, FLEXIBLE AND
EFFICIENT - TRANSPORTATION EQUITY ACT: A LEGACY FOR USERS
(SAFETEA — LU); AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL
DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO COMPLETE THE APPLICATIONS; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Transportation recently issued the 2005-06 Statewide Transportation
Enhancement Program call for projects; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Allen, Texas, desires to nominate two (2) individual hikelbike trail design and
construction projects (Rowlett Creek Trail Condor and Celebration Pass Trail Corridor) in the latest
Statewide Transportation Enhancement Program call for projects; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Allen, Texas, desires to partner with the Cities of Frisco and Plano in submission of
a Three Cities Trail Project nomination for trail design and construction in the East Rowlett Creek Trail
Condor, and,
' WHEREAS, trail design and construction will enhance the City of Allen's alternative transportation system,
establish public access to employment centers, recreational facilities, neighborhoods, and schools, provide an
interjurisdictional link between the three partnering cities, and ultimately alleviate traffic congestion and air
quality issues; and,
WHEREAS, matching funds in the amount of 20% of the total of the selected project(s) will be made
available from the Allen Community Development Corporation (4B board) trail development funds in
accordance with the TxDOT Statewide Transportation Enhancement Program guidelines; and,
WHEREAS, the City commits to the projects' development, implementation, construction, maintenance and
financing.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The submission of two individual nominations and the Three Cities Trail project to the Texas
Department of Transportation Statewide Transportation Enhancement Program is approved and the City
Manager is authorized to execute all documents necessary for the submission.
SECTION 2. This resolution shall become effective from and after its passage
DULY PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCM OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN
COUNTY, TEXAS, ON THIS THE 287u DAY OF MARCH, 2006.
