R-2510-4-06WHEREAS, the City of Allen, and its police department, must maintain high standard of training for its sworn
police officers; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Allen Police Department has recognized the need to provide its officers with the most
realistic and practical training possible to better prepare them for the violent encounters officers might face during
their shifts; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Allen Police Department believes that additional training using a Use of Force Judgment
Simulator will enhance the training officer receives and should decrease potential injuries to officers and citizens;
and,
WHEREAS, the City of Allen has agreed to provide matching funds for the Use of Force Judgment Simulator, as
it appears in the grant application.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, THAT:
' SECTION 1. The City of Allen has agreed that in the event of loss or misuse of the Criminal Justice Division
Fonds for the Use of Force Judgment Simulator Grant, all said funds will be returned to the State of Texas, Office
of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division in full.
SECTION 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to apply for, accept, reject, alter, or terminate a grant from
the State of Texas, Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division to assist the City of Allen and the Allen
Police Department in the funding of a Use of Force Judgment Simulator.
SECTION 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage.
