' A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN
COUNTY, TEXAS, TO ACCEPT A LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT BLOCK
GRANT FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, BUREAU OF
JUSTICE ASSISTANCE IN THE AMOUNT OF $11,029; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Allen, and its police department, wishes to provide superiorpolice services
to the residents and visitors of Allen; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Allen Police Department has recognized the need for specialized equipment
and training to respond to acts of terrorism; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Allen Police Department wishes to equip its police officers to be first
responders to any act of terrorism, including biological or chemical threats, within the city limits of
Allen or any law enforcement agency requesting assistance; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Allen also agrees to provide the minimum matching funds to purchase
equipment and train officers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
' COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City of Allen has agreed that in the event of loss or misuse of the Local Law
Enforcement Block Grant from the United States, Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice
Assistance, the total amount will be repaid in full.
SECTION 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to accept a grant from of the Local Law
Enforcement Block Chant from the United States, Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice
Assistance in the amount of $11,029 for the purchase specialized equipment and training for
responding to acts of terrorism.
SECTION 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage in accordance
with the provisions of the Charter of the City of Allen, and it is accordingly so resolved.
DULY PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN
COUNTY, TEXAS, ON THIS THE 1 1r DAY OF MARCH. 2003.
