A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN
COUNTY, TEXAS, DECLARING THE NEED TO APPOINT AN ACTING CITY
SECRETARY TO SERVE UNTIL THE APPOINTMENT OF A CITY SECRETARY;
APPOINTING SHELLEY B. GEORGE TO SERVE AS ACTING CITY
SECRETARY; PROVIDING FOR A SEVERABH.ITY CLAUSE; PROVIDING FOR
A REPEALING CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Allen previously appointed a City Secretary; and,
WHEREAS, the City Secretary, Judy Morrison, has elected to retire after twenty years of faithful service;
and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Allen declares that it is necessary and in the public interest to
appoint an Acting City Secretary to serve until the appointment of a City Secretary; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council finds it in the best interest of the City of Allen to appoint Shelley B. George as
the Acting City Secretary to serve until the City Council appoints a City Secretary.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, THAT:
' SECTION 1. The recitals contained in the preamble hereof are hereby found to be true, and such recitals
are hereby made a part of this Resolution for all purposes and are adopted as part of the findings of the City
Council.
SECTION 2. The City Council of the City of Allen hereby finds it is necessary and in the public interest to
appoint Shelley B. George as the Acting City Secretary to serve until the appointment of a City Secretary by
the City Council, and to perform the duties of the City Secretary and such other duties as may be assigned by
the City Manager, including but not limited to: giving notice of all official public meetings of the City
Council in a manner consistent with the City Charter and State laws; attending all public meetings of the City
Council; keep the minutes of the proceedings of all public official meetings and hearings of the City Council
in a manner prescribed by the City Council consistent with applicable law; acting as custodian of all official
records of the City Council; holding and maintaining the seal of the City of Allen, and affix this seal to all
appropriate documents; authenticating by signature and seal, and recording all ordinances, resolutions and
proclamations of the City; and performing such other duties as may be required by the City Council
consistent with the City Charter and the laws of the State of Texas.
SECTION 3. If any article, paragraph, subdivision, clause or provision of this Resolution be adjudged
invalid or held unconstitutional for any reason, such judgment or holding shall not affect the validity of this
Resolution as a whole or any part or provision thereof other than the part so declared to be invalid or
unconstimtiorial.
SECTION 4. All provisions of the Resolutions of the City of Allen, Texas, in conflict with the provisions
of this Resolution be, and the same are hereby, repealed, and all other provisions not in conflict with the
' provisions of this Resolution shall remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage, and it is accordingly so
resolved.

COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, ON THIS 14TH DAY OF JANUARY, 2003.
