' A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN
COUNTY, TEXAS, ENDORSING NORTH TEXAS MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT'S
DEVELOPMENT OF THE HIGHWAY 121 SITE FOR DEVELOPMENT AS A
REGIONAL SOLH) WASTE DISPOSAL FACILITY.
WHEREAS, the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) is a major provider of water, sewer, and solid
waste disposal services benefiting the health and welfare of the public on a regional basis; and,
WHEREAS, NTMWD operates without levying any taxes, proving the public sector can be cost-effective when
meeting the regional needs; and,
WHEREAS, NTMWD currently operates two environmentally safe landfills and three transfer stations serving
the cities of Allen, Frisco, McKinney, Plano and Richardson, as well as the unincorporated areas of Collin
County; and,
WHEREAS, because NTMWD will only have limited landfill capacity beyond 2003, approximately 1,400
acres near State Highway 121 and FM 545 have been purchased for the development of a recycling and solid
waste disposal facility by the District; and,
WHEREAS, this new facility is designed to meet the solid waste disposal needs of Collin County for the next
40 years and has been designated as the official disposal site for the County by the Collin County
Commissioners Court; and,
' WHEREAS, Allen is a partner with NTMWD in meeting the utility service needs of the public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, THAT: The City of Allen unconditionally supports NTMWD as it permits and
develops a recycling and solid waste disposal facility to meet the long -team needs of Allen; and urges the Texas
Natural Resource Conservation Commissions to expedite the permitting process so that the region can be
assured safe, affordable and convenient disposal capacity in the short and long tens future.
