Home My WebLink AboutR-4182-9-25RESOLUTION NO. 4182-9-25(R) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, ESTABLISHING SANITARY SEWER CHARGES AND WATER SERVICE CHARGES; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; PROVIDING A REPEALING CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, due to the service costs for the purchase of water and treatment of wastewater from the North Texas Municipal Water District and increased operating expenses within the Water and Sewer Fund; the Allen City Staff finds it in the best interest of the City to recommend that the fees for sanitary sewer charges and water service charges be increased; and, WHEREAS, the City Council further finds that the continuation of a tiered year-round water conservation rate structure will encourage water conservation; and, WHEREAS, the City Council further finds that it is prudent to establish water rates to be implemented during periods of constrained water supply. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. The following Sanitary Sewer Charges are hereby established. SANITARY SEWER CHARGES (1) Monthly Minimum Charge Based on the First 1,500 Gallons Minimum Monthly Charge Single-Family Dwellings or other dwellings (separately metered) $42.90 Schools and municipal customers $46.11 Other than Residential (mobile home parks and apartment complexes, and commercial and industrial) $52.74 (2) Volumetric Charge 1,500 – 10,000 Gallons: Customer Type Volume Range Rates per 1,000 gallons Single-Family Dwellings or other dwellings (separately metered) 1,500 – 10,000 gal $5.23 Capped at 10,000 gallons; Maximum sewer charge $86.95 per month Schools and municipal customers Over 1,500 gal $6.11 Other than Residential (mobile home parks, apartment complexes, commercial industrial) Over 1,500 gal $6.90 (3) Charges for Trash Enclosures with Sanitary Sewer Drains. The following Water Service Charges are hereby established. Water and Sewer Charges for Customers Outside the Allen City Limits. Residential and Commercial customers whose service addresses are outside the Allen city limits are subject to a 25% surcharge for both water and sewer service base fees and volumetric rates per Ordinances 2569-10-06 and 2183-6-03 codified as City of Allen Code of Ordinances sections 14-5(4) and 14-6(6). SECTION 4. The following Volumetric Charges for periods of constrained water supply are hereby established. Resolution No. 4182-9-25(R), Page 3 VOLUMETRIC CHARGES FOR PERIODS OF CONSTRAINED WATER SUPPLY (1) Volumetric charges for periods of constrained water supply. Water consumption in excess of one thousand five hundred (1,500) gallons shall be charged at the rate recommended or requested by NTMWD, or if no specific surcharge is recommended at the following rate per one thousand (1,000) gallons of water usage or fraction thereof commencing on billings mailed the first day of the month after the North Texas Municipal Water District recommends or requests a rate surcharge be implemented. The City will withdraw this rate surcharge from billings mailed the first day of the month after the North Texas Municipal Water District recommends or requests a rate surcharge be removed. Should any word, sentence, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase or section of this Resolution, be adjudged or held to be void or unconstitutional, the same shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of said Resolution, which shall remain in full force and effect. SECTION 6. All prior Resolutions of the City of Allen, Collin County, Texas, in conflict with the provisions of this Resolution, and the same are hereby repealed; provided, however, that all other provisions of said Resolutions not in conflict with the provisions of this Resolution shall remain in full force and effect. SECTION 7. This Resolution shall take effect on October 1, 2025, by use of pro-rated monthly consumption, and it is accordingly so resolved.
