Canvass of Election Returns from the City Council Election - April 7, 1984 (Agenda Item II -A) City Secretary Marty Hendrix reviewed for the Council the election returns for the City Council Election held on Saturday, April 7, 1984. Ms. Hendrix read the following results which were a cumulative total of the votes cast at the absentee polling and the regular polling place: MAYOR'S PLACE NAME OF CANDIDATE VOTES RECEIVED Donald P. Reeves 92 Jim Wolfe 333 Write -In Candidates: Paul Newman 1 Wilson Latham 1 COUNCILMAN - PLACE NO. 6 NAME OF CANDIDATE VOTES RECEIVED Dennis Offutt 337 Write -In Candidates: Raymond Storer 1 Roger Chaney 15 Liz Moseley 1 Ron Workman 1 Mickey Pierson 1 Carole Pierson 2 Mickey Mouse 1 Wayne Armand 1 Jim McClure 1 Sam Grimmett I Larry Reeves 1 Paul Newman I John Doe 1 Bill Swanson I Scott Latimer I Don Rodenbaugh 1 The total number of votes cast - 431 regular polling place - 415 absentee polling place - 16 A- ALLEN CITY COUNCIL April 12, 1984 Page 3 rob Resolution No. 506-4-84(R): Order Declaring Results of April 7, 1984 City Council Election for Mayor's Place and Place No. 2, 4, and 6 (Agenda Item II -B) MOTION: Upon a motion made by Councilman Womack and seconded by Councilman McClure, the Council voted 4 - 0 to adopt Resolution No. 506-4-84(R), declaring the results of the election, being Donald P. Rodenbaugh - Mayor; Jim McClure - Councilman, Place No. 2; Jim Wolfe - Councilman, Place No. 4; and Dennis Offutt - Councilman, Place No. 6. The motion carried. Oaths -of -Office to Re -Elected Council Members and Newly Elected Mayor and.. Council Member (Agenda Item II -C) City Secretary Marty Hendrix administered the oath -of - office to the re-elected Council Members, being Jim McClure - Place No. 2; and Dennis Offutt - Place No. 6; and to the newly elected Mayor, being Donald P. Rodenbaugh, and the newly elected Council Member, Jim Wolfe - Place No. 4. Mayor Pierson presented to those Council Members their Certificates of Election and offered his congratulations to the re-elected Council Members and the newly elected Mayor and Council Member. Mayor Don Rodenbaugh and Councilman Jim Wolfe took their places on the City Council. Election of Mayor Pro Tem (Agenda Item II -D) Mayor Rodenbaugh opened the floor for nominations to Mayor Pro Tem. Councilman Womack nominated Councilman Joe Farmer. MOTION: Upon a motion made by Councilman McClure and seconded by Councilman Wolfe, the Council voted 5 - 0 that the nominations cease and that Councilman Joe Farmer be elected by acclamation to Mayor Pro Tem. The motion carried. Mayor Rodenbaugh advised that Councilman Joe Farmer was re-elected as Mayor Pro Tem for another term. At this time, Councilman Womack and Mayor Rodenbaugh recognized former Mayor Pierson for all of his service to the city and citizens of Allen and extended their appreciation for that service. Adjournment: MOTION: Upon a motion made by Councilman Womack and seconded by Councilman McClure, the Council voted 6 - 0 to adjourn the called - special session of the Allen City Council at 7:15 p.m. The motion carried. rob ALLEN CITY COUNCIL April 12, 1984 Page 4 These minutes approved on the 19th day of April 1984.
