Rodenbaugh, Mayor (v Council Members• Joe Farmer, Mayor Pro Tem Jim McClure Rex Womack Ward Paxton Absent: Jim Wolfe Dennis Offutt The called - special session of the Allen City Council was called to order by Mayor Rodenbaugh on Monday, August 6, 1984, at 6:00 p.m, in the Council Chambers of the Allen Municipal Annex, One Butler Circle, Allen, Texas. Announce Purpose of the Meeting (Agenda Item II) Mayor Rodenbaugh advised that the purpose of the meeting was to accept the recent resignation of Dennis Offutt, Councilman in Place No. 6 on the Allen City Council and to consider an appointment to fill the vacancy in Place No. 6. Convene into Executive Session (Agenda Item III) In accordance with Article 6252-17, V.A.T.C.S. (Open Meetings Law), Section 2(g), the Allen City Council convened into Executive Session at 6:03 p.m., in order to discuss matters pertaining to personnel. The Executive Session was adjourned at 6:07 p.m. and the Council reconvened into called - special session at 6:08 p.m. Consider Acceptance of Resignation Letter from Councilman Dennis Offutt, Place No. 6 (Agenda Item IV) Mayor Rodenbaugh read the resignation letter from Dennis Offutt, Councilman Place No. 6, into the record (see Attachment No. 1). MOTION: Upon a motion made by Councilman McClure and seconded by Councilman Womack, the Council voted 5 - 0 to accept the resignation letter from Dennis Offutt, Councilman in Place No. 6 of the Allen City Council. The motion carried. Consideration of an Appointment to Place No. 6 on the Allen City Council (Agenda Item V) Mayor Rodenbaugh advised the Council that the floor was opened for nominations to Place No. 6 on the Allen City Council. Councilman Rex Womack nominated Gary Koch to Place No. 6. MOTION: Upon a motion made by Councilman McClure and seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Farmer, the Council voted 5 - 0 that the nominations cease. The motion carried. a3s L, ALLEN CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL SESSION August 6, 1984 Page 2 Consideration of an Appointment to Place No. 6 on the Allen City Council (cont'd) (Agenda Item V) Mayor Rodenbaugh polled the Council on the nomination of Gary Koch to Place No. 6 on the Allen City Council. The Council voted 5 - 0 in favor of Gary Koch's appointment to Place No. 6. Mayor Rodenbaugh advised that Gary Koch had been appointed to the unexpired term of office that will run through April, 1986. Adjourn (Agenda Item VI) MOTION: Upon a motion made by Mayor Pro Tem Farmer and seconded by Councilman Womack, the Council voted 5 - 0 to adjourn the called - special session of the Allen City Council at 6:15 p.m. The motion carried. Increased responsibilities in my position at Rockwell does not allow the time necessary to effectively fulfill my duties on the council. Si ncerely, I have enjoyed my work on the city council for the past two years. It has been a pleasure working with you, the other council members and the city staff. It has been an interesting and rewarding experience, and I want to express my appreciation for the opportunity to serve the citizens of Allen. Please accept my resignation effective August 1, 1984.
