The called - special session of the Allen City Council
was called to order by Mayor Rodenbaugh at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday,
August 23, 1984, in the Council Chambers of the Allen Municipal
Annex, One Butler Circle, Allen, Texas.
Public Hearing: FY 1984 - 85
Operating Budget for the City of Allen (Agenda Item II)
Mayor Rodenbaugh advised all present that this meeting had
been called per the requirements of the Allen City Charter to
hold a public hearing on the proposed fiscal year 1984 - 85
operating budget for the City of Allen.
Mayor Rodenbaugh opened the public hearing.
With no one wishing to speak before the Council on the
proposed FY 84 - 85 budget, Mayor Rodenbaugh closed the public
hearing.
There was no action taken on this item.
Public Hearing: FY 1984 - 85
Revenue Sharing Funds Budget (Agenda Item III)
City Manager Jon McCarty advised all present that this public
hearing was being held in accordance with the federal revenue
sharing guidelines. He explained that these funds are paid by
the federal government to the local municipalities during the
fiscal year and the city expects to receive next year approximately
$65,000. Those funds plus any remaining balance from this year's
fund will be used by the city to purchase capital equipment items,
in addition to the Senior Citizen's fund.
Mayor Rodenbaugh opened the public hearing.

Revenue Sharing Funds Budget (cont'd) (Agenda Item III)
Mrs. Ruth Gilliland, President of the Senior Citizens Group,
spoke before the Council on the request for use of revenue sharing
funds for the Senior Citizens Group. Mrs. Gilliland introduced
the officers of this organization and presented copies of their
proposed budget to the City Council (see Attachment No. 1).
Mrs. Gilliland then reviewed the budget with the Council and
explained the activity fund. She advised that their budget was
$5,545.00 in the FY 1983 - 84 budget, as compared to the $7,450.00
that they were requesting this year.
With no one else wishing to speak before the Council on the
FY 1984 - 85 Revenue Sharing Budget, Mayor Rodenbaugh closed the
public hearing.
There was no action taken on this item.
Adjournment
MOTION: Upon a motion made by Mayor Pro Tem Farmer and seconded
by Councilman Womack, the Council voted 6 - 0 to adjourn
the called - special session of the Allen City Council
at 7:13 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, 1984. The motion
carried.
