The called - special session of the Allen City Council
was called to order by Mayor Rodenbauqh at 7:10 p.m. on
Thursday, April 11, 1985, in the Council Chambers of the
Allen Municipal Annex, One Butler Circle, Allen, Texas.
Canvass of Election Returns from
the City Council Election -
April 6, 1985 (Agenda Item II -A)
City Secretary Marty Hendrix reviewed for the Council the
election returns for the City Council Election held on Saturday,
April 6, 1985. Ms. Hendrix read the following results of the
votes cast at the absentee polling and the regular polling
place:

The total number of voters were: 385
regular polling place: 368
absentee polling place: 17
Ms. Hendrix explained to the Council the discrepancy shown
in the number of voters at the regular polling place and the
actual number of votes cast. Ms. Hendrix advised that one of
the voters had cast a sample ballot which, by the Election Law,
cannot be cast and cannot be counted.
Resolution No. 600-4-85(R):
Order Declaring Results of
April 6, 1985 City Council
Election for Places No. 1,
3, and 5 (Agenda Item II -B)
City Secretary Marty Hendrix advised that the proposed
resolution showed the total cumulative votescast in the
election being, 384, with the following individuals being
declared to receive the highest number of votes:
Councilman - Place No. 1 - Joe Farmer
Councilman - Place No. 3 - Rex Womack
Councilman - Place No. 5 - Jim Pendleton
MOTION: Upon a motion made by Councilman Paxton and seconded
by Councilman McClure, the Council voted 5 - 0 to
adopt Resolution No. 600-4-85(R), declaring the results
of the election, being Joe Farmer - Councilman - Place
No. 1; Rex Womack - Councilman - Place No. 3; and
Jim Pendleton - Councilman - Place No. 5. The motion
carried.
Oaths -of -Office to Re -Elected
Council Members and Newly
�r Elected Council Member (Agenda Item II -C)
and
Moe Certificates of Election Results
City Secretary Marty Hendrix administered the oath -of
office to the re-elected Council Member, being Rex Womack -
Place No. 3; and to the newly elected Council Member,
Jim Pendleton - Place No. 5.
Mayor Rodenbaugh presented to those Council Members their
Certificates of Election and offered his congratulations to
those individuals.

At this time, Councilman in Place No. 5, Ward Paxton,
stepped down from the Council bench. Newly -elected Councilman
Jim Pendleton took his place on the City Council bench.
Election of Mayor Pro Tem (Agenda Item II -D)
Mayor Rodenbaugh opened the floor for nominations to
Mayor Pro Tem.
Councilman Rex Womack nominated Councilman Joe Farmer.
Councilman Gary Koch seconded the nomination.
MOTION: Upon a motion made by Councilman Gary Koch and
seconded by Councilman Jim McClure, the Council
voted 5 - 0 that the nominations cease and that
Councilman Joe Farmer be elected as Mayor Pro
Tem by acclamation. The motion carried.
Adjournment
MOTION: Upon a motion made by Councilman Womack and seconded
by Councilman McClure, the Council voted 5 - 0 to
adjourn the called - special meeting of the Allen
City Council at 7:20 p.m, on Thursday, April 11, 1985.
The motion carried.
These minutes approved on the 18th day of April
1985.
