' A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN
COUNTY, TEXAS, TO APPLY FOR, ACCEPT, REJECT, ALTER, OR TERMINATE
GRANT # 26895-01, A GRANT FROM THE STATE OF TEXAS, OFFICE OF THE
GOVERNOR, CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION PROVIDING FUNDING FOR A
STREET CRIMES INVESTIGATOR, IF AWARDED.
WHEREAS, the City of Allen, and its police department, investigates more than 750 calls annually relating to
burglaries of cars, businesses, and homes; and
WHEREAS, the City of Allen Police Department recognizes that these crime have a devastating effects on the
victims and costs the victims millions of dollars in losses annually; and
WHEREAS, the City of Allen Police Department believes that a Street Crimes Investigator will better assist the
police department, the court system, and the victims of these crime by enhancing the investigative process and
arresting the people who commit these crimes in Allen; and
WHEREAS, the City of Allen has agreed to provide additional funding above that provided by the grant for a
Street Crimes Investigator, as it appears in the grant application.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, THAT:
' SECTION 1. That the City of Allen has agreed that in the event of loss or misuse ofthe Criminal Justice Division
Funds for a Street Crimes Investigator Grant (application # 26895-01), they will be returned to the State of Texas,
Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division in full.
SECTION 2. That the City of Allen is committed to funding all required and applicable matching funds through
cash and/or in-kind.
SECTION 3. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to apply for, accept, reject, alter, or terminate a grant
from the State of Texas, Office of the Govemor, Criminal Justice Division to assist the City of Allen and the Allen
Police Department to fund a Street Crimes Investigator (application # 26895-01).
SECTION 4. That this resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage in accordance with the
provisions of the Charter of the City of Allen, and it is accordingly so resolved.

COUNTY, TEXAS, ON THIS THE 261° DAY OF FEBRUARY, 2013.
