REGULAR MEETING
NOVEMBER 21, 2017 - 6:00 P.M.

Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present
With a quorum of the committee members present, the regular meeting of the Public Art
Committee was called to order by Chair Benson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, in
' the Community Room, Municipal Courts, Parks and Recreation Building, 301 Century Parkway,
Allen, Texas 75013.
Action Items
1. Approve Minutes from the October 17, 2017 Regular Meeting
MOTION: Upon a motion made by committee member Raines and seconded by committee
member Bennett, the committee voted seven (7) for and none (0) opposed to
accept minutes from the October 17, 2017 regular meeting as presented.
2. Appoint Selection Panel for Windridge Park Seating Wall Project
MOTION: Upon a motion made by committee member Bennett and seconded by committee
member Wittsche, the committee voted seven (7) for and none (0) opposed to
appoint Emily Atkins, Diane Bange, Steve Benson, Jennifer Hill, and Cristie
Johnson to the Windridge Park Seating Wall Project Selection Panel.
3. Review Artist Call for GCAA Project
Kevin Bates, Program Manager for the Engineering department, gave additional background on
the project, including the importance of this gateway project to City leadership. He then gave an

update on the process with TXDOT and Oncor in terms of approval and restrictions. The
Committee reviewed the call to arts m detail providing recommended revisions. These
suggestions will be taken back for incorporation and further review.
4. Update on Current Projects
May and Watkins is working on the production of the sculptures and staff will request photos to
share at a future meeting.
The seating wall has been installed at Windridge Park and the construction is progressing as
scheduled.
5. Discussion on Future Projects
Fabrication of the sculptures for Spirit Park is underway and photos were shared with the
committee.
Now that a Selection Panel has been appointed for the Windridge Seating Wall project,
submissions will be distributed to panel members for review and an initial meeting will be
scheduled in December.
Staff is in the process of uploading files necessary to complete the assessment on the Allen Event
Center Rotunda.
