John Sprague indicated it was the hope of the group today to settle on a "vision" and decide on how the
group would be using this vision statement. It was also the desire of this planning meeting to share two to three
major priorities for 1997 that need the assistance and involvement of the other organizations including the
Chamber, the City and the school district.

Discussion was held regarding the targeted audience and their possible understanding of the statements
involved in the proposed Allen Vision which is as follows
Allen — traditional in values, entrepreneurial in commerce and unified in spirit. The
word 'commerce" was meant to reflect the relationship between the citizens and
businesses.
MOTION: Upon a motion made by Chamber Board President Johansen and a second by Councilmember
Powyszynski, the Boards voted unanimously to adopt the Allen Vision for the community of Allen: Allen —
traditional in values, entrepreneurial in commerce and unified in spirit. The motion carried.
It was the consensus of the group to solicit some marketing and design individuals to look at the "vision"
and come back with a recommendation and a game -plan. They will be instructed to not only design the graphics
and the sequencing of words but also to determine joint uses and to incorporate possible current logos of the three
entities. A final decision will be made by the Chamber, the school board and the City at a future date. To be
included in this group is Tim Carroll with AISD, Ron Stenlake with RCL, and the City will provide an individual
at a future date to work on this program.
