Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present.
With a quorum of the members present, the Triad Meeting was called to order by Steve Terrell, Mayor,
Allen City Council, John Garcia, President, Allen ISD Board of Trustees, and Izzie Waller, Chair,
Chamber Executive Committee, at 6 12 p.m on Monday, May 13, 2002, in the Meeting Room at the
Allen Public Library located at 301 Century Parkway, Allen, Texas.

2. Update Regarding the new Central Library and Civic Auditorium.
Don Horton, Director of Parks and Recreation, and Barbara Buehler, Director of the Library, presented
an update on the new Central Library and Civic Auditorium.
3. Update Regarding the Allen ISD School on Chaparral Road/Shelley Drive.
Bobby Curtis, Executive Director of Facilities, discussed locating Middle School #5 in this area.
Depending on the Lovejoy situation, this site location may change.
4. Update Regarding Allen Community Outreach (ACO) Center.
Lee Howard, President of Allen Community Outreach Board of Directors, updated the group regarding
the functions of ACO. He suggested the Alliance Working Agreement be signed by all the governing
bodies.
5. Update from the Allen ISD/COA Joint Partnership Committee.
Shelli Siemer, Assistant to the City Manager, and Steve West, Assistant Superintendent of Finances
and Operations, updated Triad members on the Service Center site needs assessment and possible joint
printing services. It was suggested that additional services be extended to employees of the City of
Allen and Allen ISD.
6. Update Regarding the Arts of Collin County.
Steve Matthews, Allen Representative, gave an update on the Cultural Arts Committee of Collin
County.
7. Briefing Regarding the Boyd School Project Funded by the Community Development
Corporation (CDC).
Councilmember Debbie Stout and City Manager Peter H. Vargas, reported that the CDC funded a
portion of a pavilion/playground project at Boyd Elementary School.
8. Items of Interest.

The Allen City Council, Allen ISD Board of Trustees and the Chamber of Commerce Executive
Committee voted to adjourn the Triad Meeting at 7:25 p.m on Monday, May 13, 2002 The motion
earned.
