BASEMENT -MEETING ROOM B 305 CENTURY PARKWAY ALLEN,TX 75013 PRESENT Bernard, Sommer GUEST STAFF PRESENT Ponder, Susan Smith, Ryan Perdue, Becky Diaz, Josue, Education Specialist Wallace, Chris Shaikh, Elias Kliewer, Donna, Waste Services Manager Webre, Troy Kacines, Susan Smith, Andrea, Education Specialist Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present With a quorum present, the Keep Allen Beautiful regular meeting was called to order by Chair Elias Shaikh at 6:36 pm on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 in the City Hall Basement Conference Room B of City Hall, 305 Century Parkway, Allen, TX 75002. 1. Approve Minutes of February 20, 2018 Meeting in the City Hall Basement- Meeting Room B, 305 Century Parkway,Allen, TX. A motion to approve the minutes of February 20, 2018 was made by Chris Wallace and seconded by Sue Kacines, with all in favor. 2. Receive Financial Report. Josue Diaz reported that there was $17,105.99 in the American National Bank account. A motion to accept the financial report was made by Chris Wallace and seconded by Sommer Bernard, with all in favor. 3. Guest, Becky Perdue,Anderson Elementary Garden Report. Becky Perdue gave an update on the Anderson Elementary Garden that KAB funded. 4. Receive Update on KAB Events and Projects. • Report to Council—February 27, 2018—Elias Shaikh reported that his report to council was well received. Board was provided with a link to watch recorded stream. • Allen Eagle Run—March 3, 2018 —Josue Diaz reported that 178 attendees visited the KAB booth. Sommer Bernard reported that KAB took pictures, answered questions, and promoted Earthfest and the Great American Cleanup. • Litter Index—March 7, 2018 —Chris Wallace described the Litter Index. Josue Diaz explained that it is a Keep America Beautiful affiliate requirement designed to track the level of litter in each city in a unified manner. • Arbor Day Poster Contest/Tree Planting—February 28, 2018—Andrea Smith reported that the tree planting scheduled for February 28 at Cheatham Elementary was cancelled due to rain and rescheduled for March 23 at 8:30 am. 305 CENTURY PARKWAY•ALLEN,TEXAS 75013 • 214.509.4100 WEB: www.cityofallen.org•EMAIL: coa@cityofallen.org • Eggscellent Family Adventure—March 24, 2018 —Andrea Smith described the booth activity. Chris Wallace, Ryan Smith, and Sommer Bernard volunteered to help run the booth. • Reuse-A-Shoe Contest—March 26—April 20, 2018—Andrea Smith explained that 4,000-5,000 shoes are collected every year. The winning school will receive a prize valued at $400. • Earthfest—April 7, 2018—Josue Diaz reported 24 exhibitors signed up to host a booth. • Great American Cleanup—April 28, 2018 —Josue Diaz provided the board with a copy of the flyer to demonstrate the upcoming site changes. • KTB Youth and Educator Awards—April 30, 2018 —Andrea Smith reported that Keep Allen Beautiful will be nominating Becky Perdue for the Sadie Ray Graff Educator Award and Cheatham Elementary for the Sadie Ray Graff Educational Institution Award. • KTB Conference—June 10-13, 2018 —Andrea Smith described the conference. The board was invited to attend. • Allen USA—June 30, 2018 —Andrea Smith described the anti-litter activity planned for the Keep Allen Beautiful booth. Donna Kliewer reported that there will be a shift in focus from Zero Waste to Litter Prevention. 5. Discussion of Outreach Initiatives. Josue Diaz reported that the Twitter and Facebook account are being used to promote Earthfest. Adjourn A motion to adjourn the regular session of the Keep Allen Beautiful board meeting was made by Ryan Smith and seconded by Sommer Bernard, with all in favor.
