BASEMENT -MEETING ROOM B 305 CENTURY PARKWAY ALLEN, TX 75013 PRESENT Visitors Meatia, Ed STAFF PRESENT Ponder, Susan Bernard, Sommer Midkiff, Saundra Diaz, Josue, Education Specialist Wallace, Chris Gabrelow, Joel Nanji, Yogesh Smith, Andrea, Education Specialist Webre,Troy Harris, Bryan Smiddy, Michael Kliewer, Donna, Waste Services Baez, Cheryl Kacines, Sue Taylor, Carol Manager Shaikh,Elias Schallhorn,Mark Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present With a quorum present, the Keep Allen Beautiful regular meeting was called to order by Chair Susan Ponder at 6:36 pm on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 in the City Hall Basement Conference Room B of City Hall, 305 Century Parkway, Allen, TX 75002. 1. Approve Minutes of April 18, 2017 Meeting in the Conference Room of the Municipal Service Center, 305 Century Parkway, Allen, TX. A motion to approve the minutes of April 18, 2017 was made by Chris Wallace and seconded by Mark Schallhorn, with all in favor. 2. Receive Financial Report. Josue Diaz reported that there was $13,665.13 in the American National Bank account.A motion to accept the financial report was made by Elias Shaikh and seconded by Troy Webre, with all in favor. 3. Receive Update on KAB Events and Projects. • Great American Cleanup—April 15, 2017—Josue Diaz presented the results from the GAC. • Allen Foundation for Schools Scholarship Reception—April 27, 2017—After Action Report— Susan Ponder gave the background of the scholarship. She reported that the board was represented at this year's reception. • Municipal Service Center Open House & Equipment Display—May 20, 2017—After Action Report— Donna Kliewer reported that there were 588 visitors and gave an overview of the purpose of the event. • KTB Annual Conference, San Antonio—June 12— 14, 2017—After Action Report— Andrea Smith summarized the purpose of the conference and our participation as KTB and KAB affiliates. 305 CENTURY PARKWAY •ALLEN,TEXAS 75013 • 214.509.4100 WEB: www.cityofallen.org•EMAIL: coa@cityofallen.org • Allen USA Celebration—June 24, 2017—After Action Report—Donna Kliewer reported that the booth received approximately 800 visitors with volunteers, staff, and board members operating an educational game, a photo booth, collecting cardboard, and picking up litter. • Presentation to Council—KTB Awards—July 25, 2017 -After Action Report— Donna Kliewer provided a context for the awards for the visitors. Donna Kliewer explained that the awards are an opportunity to recognize award recipients in front of council. • Educator Expo—September 26, 2017—Update—Andrea Smith provided an overview of the event and handed out donation assignments to the board. • National Planting Day- Donna Kliewer reported that KAB will collaborate with the Allen Garden Club and the Heritage Guild to install a flowerbed at the Heritage Village. 4. Discussion of Outreach Initiatives. Andrea Smith reported that she will be taking on the role of Environmental Chair of the Council of PTA for AISD. She also reported that the Solid Waste department is dropping off recycling clear stream units to schools throughout AISD. Susan Ponder mentioned that she needed to coordinate with staff about putting together a write up for the scouting newsletter. Adjourn A motion to adjourn the regular session of the Keep Allen Beautiful board meeting was made by Chris Wallace and seconded by Cheryl Baez, with all in favor.
