I. CALL TO ORDER
Chairman, Ken Browning, called the meeting to order
at 7:30 p.m.
II. REVIEW STATUS OF COMPREHSNIVE PLAN
John Garcia, Chairman, and Scott Hoover, Vice -
Chairman of the Parks and Recreation Subcommittee
of the Comprehensive Plan Oversight Committee spoke
to the Parks and Recreation Board to update them
on the status of the Comprehensive Plan.
John Garcia began by giving the Board the overall
background to the study process. Discussion
included the subcommittee, the responsibilities of
the oversight committee, citizen survey, and the
planning that has taken place since the survey in
September.
The primary reason Mr. Garcia and Mr. Hoover wanted
to present this information to the Board, according
to Director Mark Thornton, was that, as the
subcommittee's responsibilities and tasks were being
completed, the Board needed to become involved with
assisting in the finalization of the plan.

Thornton added that the subcommittee saved the Board
a tremendous amount of work in preliminary study, but
now was the time for the committees work to be
presented to the Board for comments.
After a brief discussion of the plan with Mr. Garcia
and Mr. Hoover, Chairman, Ken Browning thanked them
for the presentation and for the work they have done.
III. REVIEW AND APPROVE THE DESIGN OF THE BATHHOUSE AND
POOL DECK FOR FORD PARK SWIMMING POOL
Director, Mark Thornton, introduced Delbert Hurst
with Schrickel, Rollins, and Associates to present
the bathhouse and pool deck designs.
Mr. Hurst began with the pool decking, explaining
the various widths around the pool. He added that
the deck would serve primarily for circulation with
some areas for sun bathing.
The next item presented was the floor plan and
architectural design of the bathhouse. Mr. Hurst
explained the floor plan which covered the basic
items in a bathhouse.
Director Mark Thornton added that Mr. Hurst had
initially included all the items requested by Board
and Council, but staff had recommended their
deletion due to the costs of these items.
After discussion and questions the Board made the
following:
MOTION: Mickey Christakos made a motion to
approve the designs of the
pool decking and bathhouse and
recommended their approval by the
City Council.
