PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD
SPECIAL CALLED MEETING
OCTOBER 19. 1992 - 6:00 P.M.

CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 6:15 p.m. for a pre -meeting workshop the
purpose of which was to review a stand of pecan trees off of Chaparral road
that is included in the proposed development. The Planning and Zoning
Commission has recommended to City Council that these trees be preserved.
Following a brief discussion regarding access to the trees once the
development is completed, and maintenance, as well as an on site visit to the
proposed development, the meeting was recessed to City Hall.

III. RECONVENE AND TAKE ACTION ON ITEMS DISCUSSED DURING
Several concerns were indicated by the Parks and Recreation Board Members,
some of which were:
a) public access to the parkland,
b) availability of parking at site,
c) linkage to greenbelt areas,
d) and maintenance level of proposed area.
Following a brief discussion on the issue,
MOTION: Gordon McIntyre moved to accept the grove of pecan trees in
the proposed development as public parkland dedication and a
part of the City of Allen park system. Ray Galloway seconded,
and the motion carried 6 for, 0 against.
IV. AGENDA FOR BOARD TRAINING SESSION
Rhoda provided the Board members with the following suggested agenda along
with a form to indicate preferences for an on-going training session for Park
Board Members:

V. FISHING POLICY
Rhoda provided the Board members with a brief outline of information that
would be made available at Bethany Lakes Park which would include the
following information:
Naming Background
Park Rules
Fishing Guide and Regulations (possibly a guide to the type of fish in Bethany
Lakes along with information regarding each type of fish)
Catch and Release Information (basic information regarding the "catch and
release" program)

p.m.
