MINUTES PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD REGULAR CALLED MEETING FEBRUARY 12,2001 — 7 P.M. CALL TO ORDER Chair Kevin Pierce called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. 2. QUESTIONS ON CURRENT AGENDA There were no questions brought forward at this time. OPEN FORUM — COMMUNITY BUILT PLAYGROUND — JIM WALDBAUER Jim Waldbauer made a brief presentation to the Board members regarding the possibility of doing a "Community Built Playground' at the community park site being planned at Malone Road and Rivercrest. URBAN FORESTER Tim Dentler introduced Susan Campbell who has joined the City of Allen Parks and Recreation Department as an Urban Forester. Susan briefed the Board on her background as well as gave the Board an overview of the plans currently underway to celebrate Arbor Day. 7:30 P.M. REGULAR MEETING 4. APPROVE MINUTES FROM DECEMBER 11, 2000 REGULAR CALLED MEETING MOTION: Ben Ferguson moved to accept the Minutes from December 11, 2000 Regular Called Meeting as presented. Scott Nerce seconded E and the Motion tamed, 7 for, 0 against. 5. CITIZENS COMMENTS There were no citizens present wishing to speak at this time. 6. PRESENTATION BY LEADERSHIP ALLEN CLASS REGARDING YOUTH FACILITY Glen Jennings representing the Leadership Allen Class, along with three class members made a brief presentation regarding the possibility of developing a 3,000 square foot facility for teenagers. The target age group would be 13-18 years of age, with the main focus being 13-15 years of age. 7. UNDER -SERVED PARK PLANNING EFFORT — DON HORTON Don reported that this issue would be going to City Council in the near future, and that this Board would be notified by email when an agenda date was available for Lthis item. 8.
