1. CALL TO ORDER AND ANNOUNCE A QUORUM IS PRESENT
Chair Ben Ferguson called the Regular Parks and Recreation Board Meeting to
Order at 9:08 a.m.
2. CITIZENS COMMENTS
There were no guests wishing to speak at this time.

1 3. APPROVE MINUTES FROM APRIL 12, 2004 REGULAR MEETING
MOTION: Gary Moore moved to approve the Minutes from April 12, 2004
Regular Meeting as presented. Rich Elder seconded and the
Motion carried 6 for, 0 against.
4. INTRODUCTION OF RESOLUTION GOING TO CITY COUNCIL
REGARDING GRANT OPPORTUNITY
Tim provided a brief history on the City of Allen and the relationship to the Collin
County Open Space Board Grant opportunities. Tim reported that this was a
matching grant that we were applying for in the amount of $500,000 toward the
purchase of parkland south of Bethany Drive, and west of Greenville Avenue.
Since a portion of this property abuts the City of Plano, there is joint support from
the Plano Parks and Recreation Department for this grant.
5. OTHER BUSINESS
1 Updates by Staff: Changes to Fee Schedule at Joe Fanner Recreation Center and
Don Rodenbaugh Natatorium
Tim Dentler reported that on April 27, 2004 Allen City Council approved the
recommendation from Park Board to adopt a resolution resetting the fees at the
Joe Fanner Recreation Center as well as a portion of the Don Rodenbaugh
Natatorium Fees. The Board was provided with a copy of that approved
resolution. Tim took a moment to thank the Board for their work on this project.
6. ITEMS FOR BOARD MEMBERS DISCUSSION
Rich Elder: Rick informed the Board that he will not be seeking reappointment
to the Parks and Recreation Board in September, and will be putting his energy
toward his video business.
Joey Herald: indicated he would miss Rich, and thanked him for his time and
energy on the Park Board. Joey also reminded all that the Kiwanis Club Parade
will be held the morning of Allen USA.
Tim Dentler: Announced that Starship and Survivor will be the headline
entertainment for this yew's Allen USA event, and announced upcoming
community meetings regarding the redesign of playground equipment for Bethany
Lakes Park.

Workshop Meeting and/or the Regular Meeting may be convened into
Closed Executive Session jor the purpose ojSeeldng Confidential Legal
Advice from the City Attorney on any Agenda ]tem Listed Herein.
(Closed to the Public as Provided in the Texas Government Code.)
The regular meeting of the Parks and Recreation Board was convened into
Executive Session at 9.40 a.m.
8. RECONVENE AND CONSIDER ACTION ON ITEMS DISCUSSED
DURING EXECUTIVE SESSION
The board reconvened into regular session at 9:50 a.m.
There was no action to consider following Executive Session.
9. ADJOURN
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:53 a.m.
