The motion carried 3) Appointment of Two Members to the Senior Advisory Board Interview Panel Chair McIntosh appointed Board Members Burgess and Airhart to serve on the Senior Advisory Board Interview Panel 4) Presentation of Donation Check by Market Street to C.A.R.E Program 5) Naming of Park at Hillside Water Tower Brian Bristow, Parks and Recreation Assistant Director, informed the Board that the property at Hillside Water Tower will be named in the near future. He encouraged Board to drive by the property and provide any input they may have on the naming 6) Introduction of Parks and Recreation Staff Richard Karamatic, General Manager, Allen Event Center 7) Molsen Farm Master Plan Discussion Parks and Recreation Director Assistant Director, Brian Bristow introduced Councdperson Ross Obermeyer, who in tum introduced Steve Carlson and Kenny Chandler. They then shared with the board their vision for Molsen Farm including the potential for sustainable agriculture with community involvement and also the potential for educational opportunities at the university level and below They pointed out how this would not only benefit residents, but students and possibly even tourism. They discussed possible funding opportunities through giants, donations and partnerships with universities and private organizations In the upcoming weeks Mr. Carlson and Mr. Chandler will present to City Council their vision for Molsen Farm and the opportunity for the City to retain them as consultants 8) Park Project Updates City of Allen Landscape Architect, Matt McComb provided the board updates on several park projects. Day Springs Nature Preserve will use the existing concrete slab but a new pavilion structure is underway and new interpretive signage will also be installed. After receiving the input from the Brownie Troop last meeting, the Watters Crossing Park playground structure has been narrowed to two options, a fort/treehouse theme or a brightly colored design. Mr McComb also shared with the board that the Orchards Neighborhood Park will be an upcoming project and meetings have been held recently with the surrounding homeowners associations to seek input on the project 9) Update of Chase Oaks Golf Course Renovation A Parks and Recreation Board Minutes May 2012 3 Page 3 Jeff Holt, Golf Services Manager shared with the board the progress on the course renovation including pictures of the construction. Also discussed was the ongoing issues involving the residents on Hole #8 and their concerns regarding the safety of the back tee on this hole. D A. Weibring, the course designer has a meeting scheduled with the homeowners to address their concerns 10)Items of Interest [Board announcements regarding local civic and charitable events, meetings, fimdraisers, and aivaid/s.] a) Community Calendar b) Next Parks and Recreation Board Meeting — August 13, 2012, 7:00 p.m 11) Adjourn Todd McIntosh, Chair, Parks and Recreation Board Motion: Upon a motion by Board Member Losavio and a second by Board Member Davidson, the Board voted six (6) for and none (0) opposed to adjoum the meeting.
