Regular meeting
Presiding: chairman Elo Zinke
members present: Bill Enloe, Bill LaGone, Ken Posey, Howard Snider
members absent: none
1. minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved
2. a request for zoning change was received from E Mae Pherigo and Ruth Story to
change 201 through 205 west main street being lots 8, 9, and 10 block 19 of the Old
Donation from classification A to classification F. motion by Bill Enloe to set a
hearing date of April 5, 1971. Second Bill LaGone. Motion carried 5 for, none against
3. chairman Zinke informed the commission that on March 5, 1971 a request for zoning
was received from corporate realty 71 requested by Mr. Delvin W. Morton
president, zoning requested on 277.2 acres of land contained in abstract no. 990
Peter Wetsel survey, abstract no. 978 Lewis Wetsel survey and abstract no. 977 David
Wetsel survey and further indentified by or attached preliminary plat. Notive to adjacent
property holders was sent on prescribed by law within the time required informing
them of the hearing to be held this date
Mr. Morton assisted by Mr. Larry F Smith and Mr. Joe Duncan presented detailed
information regarding development and use of the property. Those entering into
discussion in addition to the commission were Mr. Jack Parsons of JanMar Development
Company adjacent property holder. Mr. JL Erickson representing Allen Public Schools
adjacent property holder, Mr. Johnson representing Mr. OB English. Mr. Parson was
particularily interested in the handling of water draininage from the land east of the
crest of the hill. he was assured that drainage would be designed according
to specifications as set out by the city and Mr. Walter Hicks, City Engineer
Mr. Morton made a verbal request that trailer parks, which are allowed under classification
G of the present zoning ordinance be deleted from his zoning request
Mr. Morton stated that his property layout does not contain any planned open of park
space but he would cooperate with the city if the city has a park program.
Mr. Johnson requested that Mr. English be put on record as ... the propsed zoning.
Mr. Erickson stated that he had no objection to the proposed zoning.
A motion was made by Bill LaGone that the commission recommend that the council
allow the zoning as requested except that item 9 of the G zone be deleted (trailer park)
Second Bill Enloe Motion carried 5 for none against
3. the commission members decided to be prepared to discuss the proposed zoning
ordinance at the next meeting on April 5th and to set a date at that time for a public
hearing
4. meeting adjourned
