Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present
With a quorum present, the Keep Allen Beautiful regular meeting was called to order by Chair
Elias Shaikh at 6:37 pm on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 in the City Hall Basement Conference
Room B of City Hall, 305 Century Parkway, Allen, TX 75002.
1. Approve Minutes of May 15, 2018 Meeting in the City Hall Basement- Meeting
Room B, 305 Century Parkway, Allen, TX. A motion to approve the minutes of May
15, 2018 was made by Chris Wallace and seconded by Susan Ponder, with all in favor.
2. Receive Financial Report. Josue Diaz reported that there was $13,646.09 in the
American National Bank account, according to the last bank statement received. A
motion to accept the financial report was made by Susan Ponder and seconded by Chris
Wallace, with all in favor.
3. Receive Update on KAB Events and Projects.
• KTB Conference—June 10-13, 2018 —Elias Shaikh reported that the board received
training at the conference. Susan Ponder discussed the differences between KAB and
other affiliates.
• Allen USA—June 30, 2018 —Josue Diaz gave a media overview of the event. Andrea
Smith explained the results of the Litter Attitude Survey.
• Educator Expo—September 25, 2018 —Andrea Smith explained the process of
acquiring prize donations for the event.
• Trees for Allen Discussion—Donna Kliewer reported that the tree lists, prices, and
pickup date will be given to the board at a later date.
• Arbor Day- Donna Kliewer reported that the date is to be announced but historically
has been the last Saturday of October.

• Allen Recycles Day—Elias Shaikh gave an overview of the Allen Recycles Day. It is
scheduled for Saturday,November 3. Andrea Smith reminded the board that the
Recycled Art Contest is also part of Allen Recycles Day.
4. Discussion of Outreach Initiatives. Andrea Smith reported that staff were continuing
the summer camp outreach at Camp Star located at the Joe Farmer Recreation Center.
Denise Webre is teaching two lessons from the Junior Master Gardeners curriculum this
summer on behalf of KAB. In the fall, Andrea Smith will be teaching at the Allen Public
Library.

A motion to adjourn the regular session of the Keep Allen Beautiful board meeting was made by
Susan Ponder, and seconded by Chris Wallace,with all in favor. The regular session of the Keep
Allen Beautiful board adjourned at 7:30 pm on Tuesday, July 17, 2018.
