BASEMENT -MEETING ROOM B 305 CENTURY PARKWAY ALLEN, TX 75013 PRESENT VISITORS STAFF PRESENT Ponder, Susan Doherty, Lauren Diaz, Josue, Education Specialist Chisholm, Steve Nelson, Holly Kliewer, Donna, Solid Waste Manager Webre, Troy Sheets, Sydney Smith, Andrea, Education Specialist Bernard, Sommer Taylor, Regina Smith, Ryan Ahmad, Munia Kacines, Susan Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present With a quorum present, Vice Chair Sue Kacines called the Keep Allen Beautiful regular meeting to order at 6:42 pm on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 in the City Hall Basement Conference Room B of City Hall, 305 Century Parkway, Allen, TX 75002. 1. Approve Minutes of September 18, 2018 Meeting in the City Hall Basement- Meeting Room B, 305 Century Parkway, Allen, TX. A motion to approve the minutes of September 18, 2018 was made by Ryan Smith and seconded by Munia Ahmad, with all in favor. 2. Keep Allen Beautiful/Mardy and Lisa Brown Scholarship Discussion with Regina Taylor, Foundation for Allen Schools Executive Director. Regina Taylor gave an update on the funds, explained how it worked, and explained how students are selected. A discussion was held about reviewing the selection criteria. 3. Receive Financial Report. No financial report was given. 4. KAB Orientation. Josue Diaz gave an overview of the organization. Josue Diaz gave a Power Point presentation that illustrated the schedule of KAB events. 5. Election of Board Officers. Sue Kacines and Susan Ponder explained the duties of the Chair and Vice Chair. Sue Kacines, Ryan Smith, and Susan Ponder were nominated for Chair and Vice Chair. Receive Update on KAB Events and Projects. • Educator Expo—Andrea Smith discussed the feedback given from a post event survey. It was well received. • Trees for Allen—Josue Diaz reported that the tree pickup will be at the Arbor Day Celebration at Country Meadows Park on October 27. Steve Chisholm, Ryan Smith, Elias Shaikh, Sommer Bernard, Susan Ponder, Sue Kacines, and Troy Webre volunteered to work the event. • Arbor Day Celebration—A discussion was held over the volunteer start and end time. • Recycled Art Contest—Andrea Smith reported that the theme was "Wild for Recycling" and the contest had begun. Andrea Smith reported that voting will take place October 29th& 30tH • Allen Recycles Day—Josue Diaz reported that all vendors have been confirmed and that job assignments were going to be emailed out. • Rotary Holiday Parade—A discussion was held about parking. • Arbor Day Poster Contest—Andrea Smith gave an overview of the contest and explained the history. A discussion was held about the dates and times. 7. Discussion of Outreach Initiatives. Andrea Smith reported that outreach at the Allen Public Library was ongoing. Donna Kliewer gave an update over the STEAM center recycling program and that a new development One Bethany was interested in adding recycling. Adiourn A motion to adjourn the regular session of the Keep Allen Beautiful board meeting was made by Sommer Bernard, and seconded by Susan Ponder, with all in favor.
