Call to Order
With a quorum of the Board members present,the Regular Meeting of the Animal Shelter Advisory Committee was
called to order by Animal Control Supervisor Deborah Michnick at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday November 28,2018,
in the Animal Shelter Conference Room,Allen Animal Shelter, 707 S.Allen Heights Drive,Allen,Texas 75002.
1. Conduct Election of Officers.
Supervisor Michnick called for nominations from the Board for the purpose of electing officers.
The following slate of officers was presented:
Deborah Michnick for the position of Chair.
Pamela Ackerman for the position of Vice-Chair.
Gail Smallin for the position of Secretary.
With no other nominations offered, Supervisor Michnick closed the call for nominations. Pamela
Ackerman was elected for the position of Vice-Chair,Deborah Michnick was elected for the position of
Chair and Gail Smallin was elected for the position of Secretary by a vote of five(5)for and none(0)
opposed of the Board.
2. Approve Minutes from July 18,2018 Regular Meeting.
The minutes were approved by the acclamation of the board.
3. Introduction of new members.
The board welcomes new members, Pamela Ackerman and Gail Smallin.
4. Update on Adoptable Kennel Floor Replacement and Dog Isolation Remodel.
New epoxy floors have been installed.

5. Update on new pet registration tag for 2019 and on-line registration.
New pet registration tags will be available in 2019,purchased through PetHub.The new tag contains a QR
code that can be scanned with a smart phone. If the pet owners enter a pet profile on the PetHub website,
the QR code will provide important information that will help get the dog or cat home.
6. Discuss and Make a Recommendation to the City Council regarding Proposed Revisions to
Chapter 3,Animals and Fowl,of the Code of Ordinances and/or Standard Operating Procedures.
Discussed definitions of "Dangerous Dog" and "Vicious Animal' as outlined in the Allen Code of
Ordinances Section 3-1. Supervisor Michnick stated that "Vicious Animal' will be removed from the
ordinances because of its redundancy compared to the definition of"Dangerous Dog."Section 3-20 will be
revised to add more verses under health and safety to ease enforcement actions taken by animal shelter
staff.
7. Discuss upcoming events.
December 1,2018-City of Allen Animal Control will participate in the Rudolph Run.
December 7,2018-Board Appreciation Banquet hosted by the Mayor and City Council for board members.
December 15,2018—Animal shelter will host a half-price adoption event.
Adjournment
MOTION: Upon a motion made by Chair Michnick and a second by Dr. Coffman,the Board
voted four(4)for and none(0)opposed to adjourn the Regular Meeting of the Animal
Shelter Advisory Committee at 7:47 p.m. on Wednesday,July 28,2018. The motion
carried.
These minutes approved on the 27th day of March 2019.
