SPECIAL MEETING
OF
THE TO�VN ]DYKAXXAA COUNCEL OF THE TOaN OF ALLEN, ALLEN, TEXAS
WITH THE !FOLLOWING MEMBERS PRc,SENT; Mayor V.B. Watson, Aldermen J.C.
HB Ener, Phil Pringle, Jack Hedgeoxe, C.E. Ottoway and Carl Marion.
Purpose of the meeting was for a public hearing on the REZONING of tile
W.A. JOHNSON property on the east side of high -way N 5, in the Town of
Allen, from Zone A- to Zone G- for the purpose of building a TRAILOR-COURT.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor V.B, Watson, and was turned over
over to Paul warden the City Attorney for the Town of Allen, to hold the
hearing_.
Mr. E.R. Yates was Attorney for MR. Johnson.
Mr. Stvwart was attorney for the Southwood Estates.
After the lawer's were heard their was several comment's both for and
aganist from the general public.
Mr. Owen George commented In regard to loans , with Trailor-Court
across the street.
Mr. Rodenbough, handed in a pettion from the people living in the South-
wood Estates addition.
Mr. Steed speaks in regard to taxation on this type property.
Mr. C.A. Cass Jr. against because their are lots of criminals come from
this type of people
Mr. Sears, dont want his children to associate with this type of people.
Mr. G.T. Jones was in favor of the Trailor-Court. He states that he has
about as much property as any -one adjoining the Johnson property and he
don't think it will hurt him. Also Mrs G.T. Jones makes some complimentry
' statements with reference to the Johnson family.
Mr. Gordon Smythe speakes in favor of the project. Want's t eTowp to
grow. We the people must be broad minded. "55, x( 4i.kE
Motion by C.E. Ottoway that the Council retire to make their
decision in private. Motion second by J.C. Hefner. Motion carried.
Mr. W.A. Johnson was called in to discuss the taxes, with reference
to the Trailor-homes. Should their be a personal tax or a occupational
tax. also about the frontage, Sewer, Water &, Streets, Who is to do the
inspecting ect. ( City has no inspector at this time). About handling
the problhm's with -in the Court. RESTRICTIONS. MR. Johnson states he will
live in the PARK. Nr. Johnson leaves the meeting.
After much discussion in the Council a MOTION WAS MADE BY CARL MARION
THAT -TES' WE (THE COUNCIL) AXCEPT TETE RECOMMENDATION OF THE ZONING COM-
MISSION.TO CHANGE THE.' 70NING OH Mr.W.A. JOHNSON's PROPERTY FROM ZONE "A"
TO TONE "G". THIS MOTION WAS SECOND BY JACK HEDGCOXE. COUNCILMEN VOTING
