JUNE 14th. 1962
Members present : Mayor Gentry T. Jones, Aldermen Talmadge Oxford,
Phil Pringle, F. Dean Gears and J.C . Hefner. Absent C.E. Ottaway.
Minutes read and approved :
Mr. Sears moved that all bills be paid, sec . by Phil Pringle , motion
passed -- ayes (4) Four / noes (0) none .
Motion by Phil Pringle, that as soon as the people who are paying
$ 2.00 per month on SEWAGE, and have-not connected to the Sewer line
have paid in $ 75.00, which is the regular tapping fee, can be dropped from
Sewer fee with paid-up tapping charges. if any-one has over-paid refund
their money. Motion sec . by Dean Sears, motion passed ayes (4) Four
noes (0) none.

Motion by Dean Sears to have the City Attorney Mr. Orr draw a WEED
ORDINANCE. Sec . by Mr. Hefner, motion passed ayes (3) three / noes (1)
one. ( T.L. Oxford) ,
Discussion on location for a City Park in the near future .
Mayor Gentry T. Jones presented a deed from P:rs Ola Whisenant and
J.M. Whisenant to the TOWN of ALLEN, opening the Street (and or alley)
along the north side of the WELL PROPERTY, west, out to the Expressway
service road . Motion was made by J.C. Hefner that above said DEED be
accepted, second by Phil Pringle. Motion passed, ayes (4) four/noes (0)
none.
Discussion on the Water Line to the Wetsel Community alone highway

Motion by Dean Sears that the Mayor writes a letter to Mr. L. V.
Read, regarding the annexation of property along highway #5. The TOWN
Council of the Town of Allen feels it would be impossible to accept the
annexation at this time. Motion second by Phil Pringle, motion carried
ayes - (4) - Four / noes (0) none.
Mayor Jones brought to the attention of the Council that some of the
citizens of Allen were building fences over utility easements and
suggested that Legal advice from the City Attorney be ask as to what
position and where the City stands in that type of situation.
Than upon a motion by Dean Sears, Mayor Jones was requested to seek the
advice of our City Attorney in the above matter. Motion was sec . by
Phil Pringle, motion passed, ayes (4 ) Four / noes (0) none.
The Council discussed the following items with Mr. Orr, on City improvement
Extension of City boundary lines Easements --
Some sort of code for building restrictions
Legality of Ordinances that we already have & etc. Mr. Orr agreed to
check the map with reference to the extension of the City boundary.
Motion by Dean Sears that we remove approximately (9) nine Street lights
to be replaced with (6) six MERCURY VAPOR LIGHTS 20,000 luminous. Five of
these lights to be on FIRST STREET between East Ave. AA and West Ave. B
One at the intersection of highways # 5 and 2170
Motion sec . by Talmadge Oxford, Motion passed ayes (4) Four
noes (0) none.
Motion by Talmadge Oxford that the COUNCIL SET AS A EQUALIZATION BOARD
for the TOWN of ALLEN on JUNE 28 1962, 8:00 P.M. at the City Hall in the
TOWN of ALLEN, Allen, Texas . Sec . by Phil Pringle, motion passed, ayes (4)
Four / noes (0) none.
