ALLEN ARTS ALLIANCE BOARD
REGULAR CALLED MEETING

I. CALL TO ORDER
Vice -Chair, Lori Fairchild called the meeting to order at 6:20 p.m.
II. APPROVE THE MINUTES FROM JULY 6, 1999, REGULAR
CALLED MEETING
MOTION: Evelyn Dawson moved to accept the minutes from July 6,
1999 as presented, Tess McKeown seconded, and the
motion carried, 5 for, 0 against.

III. CITIZENS COMMENTS
Stefanie M. Best, Director of the Allen Civic Ballet made a brief
presentation to the Board, outlining her plans for the "Nutcracker"
presentation, along with a brief history of her professional performances.
She indicated that she is the director of the Allen Conservatory of Dance,
and has offered rehearsal space for the Allen Civic Ballet. Stefanie
indicated that she would need $9,900 per year for the productions that
she presented. She is requesting financial support from the Allen Arts
Alliance for her endeavors. She was told that the process is still under
development for groups to request funds from this Board.
IV. APPLICATION FOR FUTURE REQUESTS - WARREN
JOHNSON/DON HORTON
Don Horton provided the Board with a copy of the Report indicating all
funding available, where that funding is allocated, along with balances in
each project from the Allen Community Development Corporation
Don also indicated he would be getting with Michael Stanger, Assistant
City Manager upon his return to get the minimum requirements from the
City of Allen.
V. WINTER CONCERT SERIES - TESS MCKEOWN
Tess reported that she had visited with the Director of Library Services,
Barbara Buehler, regarding the possibility of holding a joint winter
concert series with the Friends of the Allen Library. Following a brief
discussion with this Board, she was requested to attend the next meeting
of this group, and gather more information regarding how many concerts
might be involved, type of funding required, possible dates, etc. Tess
indicated she would report back to this Board by email the outcome of
this meeting. Tess indicated that her initial contact with Ms. Buehler
was that they anticipated $500 per concert, and were thinking of using
the Council Meeting Room for these concerts

VI. UPDATE ON SUMMER CONCERT SERIES - SANDY
MCGOWAN
Sandy gave the Board a brief update, and all agreed the series has been a
great success. Plans were briefly discussed for future concerts, as well
as future funding of this series.
Sandy also briefly reviewed a survey proposed for the last concert of the
series whereby a favorite band would be voted upon for an invitation to
come back next year. Discussions were held regarding the gathering of
these forms, along with the use of these forms for the evening drawings
for prizes.

Chair Barbara Eubanks, presented the Board with her written
resignation, and expressed appreciation to all those present for their
efforts, cooperation, and support during the past two years. She also
congratulated the Board on the long list of accomplishments during their
short existence. Barbara promised to stay in touch with all via email
from South America.
