HomeMy WebLinkAboutMin - Parks and Recreation Board - 2014 - 04/28 - RegularParks and Recreation Board Members Present: Tricia Losavio, Chair Tony Airhart Larry Holley Rodrigo Vizcaino John Holley Tom Cowart Paul Davidson Guests: Members of the Community City Staff: Tim Dentler, Director, Parks and Recreation Department 1 Brian Bristow, Assistant Director, Parks and Recreation Department Lori Smeby, Assistant Director, Parks and Recreation Department Matt McComb, Landscape Architect, Parks and Recreation Department Jennifer Robinson, Senior Administrative Assistant, Parks and Recreation 1) Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present With a quorum of the Parks and Recreation Board present, Chair Losavio called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m. on Monday, April 28, 2014, at the Allen Senior Recreation Center at 451 E. St. Mary Drive, Allen, Texas. 2) Receive Public Input Regarding on the Watters Branch Community Park Master Plan Chair Losavio thanked those in attendance and then Tim Dentler, Director, Parks and Recreation Department introduced the staff present and shared the history of the project. Mr. Deader then introduced Matt McComb, Landscape Architect, who spoke on the the City's past experience with and credentials of Dunaway Associates, the design consultant for the project. Mr. McComb then turned the floor over to Phillip Neeley and Elizabeth Mcllrath, representatives Dunaway to introduce the master plan for the park. They shared with the group the plan that included four softball fields, shaded Parks and Recreation Board Minutes April 28, 2014 Page 2 team gathering areas, several lighted multi -use fields that could be used for such games as rugby and cricket, a nature themed play area and a natural trail area. Following the presentation the floor was opened to citizen question and comment. Comments included concern for amount and location of parking, questions regarding placement and timing of lights, the size of the playground as well as further details on the potential rugby piece. Also there were requests for tennis courts, additional youth fields and recycling at the site. In addition, several questions concerning the Ridgeview Drive roadway project and the future of Bray Central Drive were also brought forward and addressed by Chris Flanigan, Director of Engineering who was present in the audience. After all questions and concerns were addressed by staff, those residents in attendance were reminded if they were interested in receiving updates on the project to be sure to provide an email address on the comment card they were given. 3) Adjourn Tricia Losavio, Chair, Parks and Recreation Board Motion: Upon a motion by Board Member Airhart a second by Board Member John Holley, the Board voted seven (7) for and none (0) opposed to adjourn the meeting.
