HomeMy WebLinkAboutMin - Parks and Recreation Board - 2015 - 02/09 - RegularPARKS AND RECREATION BOARD 1 REGULAR MEETING MINUTES FEBRUARY 9, 2015 Parks and Recreation Board Present: Tricia Losavio, Chair Tony Airhart Paul Davidson John Holley (late) Larry Holley Baine Brooks, Council Liaison Absent: Tom Cowart Rodrigo Vizcaino City Staff: Tim Deader, Director, Parks and Recreation Department Brian Bristow, Assistant Director, Parks and Recreation Department Jennifer Robinson, Senior Administrative Assistant, Parks and Recreation Brandy O'Keefe, Marketing Manager, Parks and Recreation/Allen Event Center Jeff blues, Senior Marketing Coordinator, Parks and Recreation/Allen Event Center 1) Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present With a quorum of the Parks and Recreation Board present, Chair Losavio called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m. on Monday, February 9, 2015, in the Community Room of the Municipal Court and Parks and Recreation Administration Building at 301 Century Parkway, Allen, Texas 2) Approve Minutes of the November lo, 2014 Regular Meeting Motion: Upon a motion by Member Davidson and a second by Member Larry Holley the Parks and Recreation Board voted four (4) for and none (0) opposed to approve the minutes from the November 10, 2014 Regular Meeting. The motion carried. 1 3) Update on Staff Vacancies Parks and Recreation Board Minutes February 9, 2015 Page 2 1 Tim Dentler, Director, shared that Lori Smeby, Assistant Director, has taken the position of Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Richardson and her last day was February 6, 2015 The Assistant Director position should be opened to internal candidates by the week of February 16, 2015. J) Trail Matrix Presentation Staff has worked to identify and rank the remaining segments of trail necessary to complete the trail build out for the city Assistant Director. Brian Bristow, shared with the Board the eighteen (18) segments that were identified and how staff determined the rankings. Segments connecting the largest pieces of trail and those that were to be built on land currently owned by the City received the highest rankings. 5) Project Updates Assistant Director, Brian Bristow updated the Board on the Heritage Village. He shared that the group would be visiting Nash Farm in Grapevine, Texas to view a similar restoration and presented pictures of the completed Nash restoration to the Board. He also shared plans of the current structures that the Heritage Guild is discussing and some of the fixtures and hardware that they are evaluating. 1 Staff is working with the developers of Montgomery Ridge on an agreement to make a major east/west trail connection Council awarded the design contract for Ford Pool to Brandstetter Carroll, Inc., moving the project forward as planned. 6) Gold Medal Discussion Brandy O'Keefe, Marketing Manager, Parks and Recreation/Allen Event Center gave background on the medal and then encouraged the Board to provide feedback on several of the questions asked on the application. 7) Items of Interest [Board announcements regarding local en•te and charitable events, rneetntgs, jundrm.sers, and crovrds J a) Items for Future Agendas: Hot Air Balloon Policy Review b) Next Parks and Recreation Board Meeting May 11, 2015 at 7 00 p.m 8) Adjourn Tricia Losavio, Chair, Parks and Recreation Board D Parks and Recreation Board Minutes February 9, 2015 Page 3 1 Motion: Upon a motion by Board Member Davidson a second by Board Member Airhart, the Board voted five (5) for and none (0) opposed to adjourn the meeting at 8 25pm.
