This request is for a variance to the present R-3 (Residential)
zoning in order to construct a single family dwelling of 1,275
square feet. Zoning Variance Case No. Z3-3-83-2"
Terry Samples, representing his father, J. A. Samples, presented
the request to the Board. Mr. Samples presented a petition to the
Board with adjacent homeowner's signatures denoting their approval
of the request.
Chairman Kirkindoll opened the Public Hearing.
The following persons spoke for the request:
Mr. Prince 309 Ellis
Chairman Kirkindoll closed the Public Hearing.
Some of the questions asked by the Board included the reason for
the zoning variance; if Mr. Samples had considered building a home
in an area that is already zoned for this house size; if the constr-
uction would be similar to the other homes in that area; and how
many other lots in this subdivision are vacant.
Bill Petty, Director of Community Development, gave the Board
some background on the zoning in that area.
There was some discussion as to house sizes if this area were
to be redeveloped at a future date.
MOTION: Upon a motion by Board Member Armand and second by Board
Member Alexander, the Board voted three (3) for and one
(1) opposed to allow the variance as requested on Lot 14,
Block 1, Burnett Addition to the City of Allen. The

Since there was not a concurrence of four members of the Board,
no resolution was made in this matter.
