SIGN CONTROL BOARD PAGE 2
AUGUST 13, 2001
a REGULAR AGENDA:
2. Consider renewal of Class 4 Temporary Sign for Coleman Homes located at 1202
Meadowgate Drive, in the Allen North Addition.
The ordinance allows temporary signs only as long as more than 5% of lots remain, or
permits were issued within the past 6 months. Ms. Sally Leeper advised the Board that
although a permit was issued in this addition within the past six months, there are only 2.6%
of lots remaining. Staff is recommending denial of the renewal.
MOTION: Upon a motion by Board Member Moore and a second by Board Member
Spivey, the Board voted 4 FOR and 0 OPPOSED to deny the request for
renewal by Coleman Homes at 1202 Meadowgate Drive. The motion
carried.
3. Discussion Item — Review of status of weekend directional signs and garage sale signs by
Joey Allette, Environmental Services Coordinator.
Mr. Joey Allette was not available and Ms. Kristie West-Raspe, Code Enforcement Officer,
spoke on his behalf. She reported that the weekend directional signs are disappearing from
'& the City rapidly All permits will be expired by December, 2001. Garage sale signs are the
more difficult to control, and are being placed in the medians and on City rights-of-way.
Enforcement staff works on Saturdays to pick these up. The problem appears to be that of
communicating the ordinance regulations to the public. It was discussed that we should
request an article in the Allen American, send notices to Homeowner Associations, place a
note on the water bills, and continue the Cable TV notice.
