REGULAR MEETING
OCTOBER 8, 2001

CALL TO ORDER AND ANNOUNCE A QUORUM:
With a quorum of the Board present, the Sign Control Board was called to order at 3.30 p.m. by
Chairperson Jones at the City Council Chambers, One Allen Civic Plaza, Allen, Texas.
CONSENT AGENDA:
1. Approve minutes of September 10, 2001, Regular Meeting.
2. Consider renewal of Class 4 Temporary Sign for Lennar/Weekley Homes located at 101
Trailwood Drive in the Morningside Addition.
3. Consider renewal of Class 4 Temporary Sign for Mercedes Homes located at 1316
Sunderland Court in the Glendover Park Addition.
MOTION: Upon a motion by Board Member Spivey and a second by Board Member Moore,
the Board voted 4 FOR and 0 OPPOSED to approve the consent agenda as
presented. The motion carried.

REGULAR AGENDA:
4 Election of Officers — Chair, Vice -Chair
Board Member Moore nominated Melanie Jones for the office of Chairperson. Board
Member Spivey seconded the nomination. With no further nominations, Melanie Jones was
elected Chairperson.
Board Member Spivey nominated Griffith Moore for the office of Vice -Chairperson. Board
Member Halpin seconded the nomination. With no further nominations, Griffith Moore was
elected Vice -Chairperson.
Other Business:
New Board Member Joni Halpin was introduced. The Board discussed the process of getting
information to the citizens regarding garage sale signs. Ms. West advised that plans were
underway to place an advertisement in the Allen American and put information on the water
bills. Discussion was held regarding use of the Allen Image and the Municipal Messenger.
ADJOURNMENT:
MOTION: Upon a motion by Board Member Moore and a second by Board Member Halpin,
the Board voted 4 FOR and 0 OPPOSED to adjourn the October 8, 2001, meeting
of the Sign Control Board at 4:00 p.m. The motion carried.
