REGULAR MEETING

CALL TO ORDER AND ANNOUNCE A QUORUM:
With a quorum of the Allen Sign Control Board present, the meeting was called to order at
7:30 p.m. by Chairman Claytor at the Allen Municipal Annex, City Council Chambers, One
Butler Circle, Allen, Texas.
Approve Minutes
November 10. 1993 (Agenda Item Ill
Chairman Claytor read the agenda item into the record as follows:
"Approve minutes of November 10, 1993, Regular Meeting."
MOTION: Upon a motion by Board Member Perry and a second by Board Member
Black, the Board voted 5 FOR and 0 OPPOSED to approve the minutes of
L November 10, 1993, as presented.

Renewal
Centex Homes (Agenda Item III)
Chairman Claytor read the agenda item into the record as follows:
"Renewal - Consider first renewal for Centex Homes for on-site Class 4 sign located
at 732 Cottonwood Drive."
Mr. Del Ferro advised that the sign is in good condition. Board Member Chenoweth
questioned whether this sign is set back from the road the proper distance and Mr. Del Ferro
advised that it is.
MOTION: Upon a motion by Board Member Perry and a second by Board Member
Chenoweth, the Board voted 5 FOR and 0 OPPOSED to approve the first
renewal for Centex Homes at 732 Cottonwood Drive.0

Arvida (Agenda Item IV)
Chairman Claytor read the agenda item into the record as follows:
"Renewal - Consider second renewal for Arvida for on-site Class 4 sign located at
1122 W. McDermott Dr."
MOTION: Upon a motion by Board Member Perry and a second by Board Member
Nolan, the Board voted 5 FOR and 0 OPPOSED to approve the second
renewal for Arvida at 1122 W. McDermott Dr.

Douglas Pro rties (Agenda Item V)
Chairman Claytor read the agenda item into the record as follows:
"Renewal - Consider first renewal for Douglas Properties for on-site Class 4 sign
located at the northeast comer of S. Allen Heights Drive and Shadow Lakes Blvd."
MOTION: Upon a motion by Board Member Chenoweth and a second by Board Member
Black, the Board voted 5 FOR and 0 OPPOSED to approve the first renewal
for Douglas Properties at the northeast comer of S. Allen Heights Drive and
1 Shadow Lakes Blvd.

Bethany Plaza Shoppine Center (Agenda Item VI)
Chairman Claytor read the agenda item into the record as follows:
"Renewal - Consider fifth renewal for Class 4 sign for Bethany Plaza Shopping
Center located at 727 S. Greenville."
Board Member Black questioned the condition of this sign and Mr. Del Ferro advised that it
is in good condition.
MOTION: Upon a motion by Board Member Chenoweth and a second by Board Member
Nolan, the Board voted 5 FOR and 0 OPPOSED to approve the fifth renewal
for Bethany Plaza Shopping Center.

Sumeer Homes
(Agenda Item VII)
Chairman Claytor read the agenda item into the record as follows:
'Renewal - Consider first renewal for Class 4 off-site sign for Sumeer Homes located
b mile north of Bethany Drive and west of S. H. 5."
MOTION: Upon a motion by Board Member Perry and a second by Board Member
Chenoweth, the Board voted 5 FOR and 0 OPPOSED to approve the first
renewal for Sumeer Homes.
Other Business:
The Board reviewed the Class 4 sign permits issued during the past month.
Chairman Claytor advised that he and some of the Board members had been contacted by
former Mayor Pro Tem Jim Wolfe with regard to the regulations for political signs and
requested that this section of the ordinance be reviewed. His concern is centered around the
number and size of political signs that are allowed. The Board discussed the possibility of
considering this in a timely fashion in order to present their findings to the City Council
prior to the upcoming election process. A committee, consisting of Board Member Terry
and Board Member Black, was established to review ordinances of surrounding cities and a
special called workshop was set for January 4, 1994, at 7:30. The Board will attempt to
have a proposal for the City Council to consider at their January 20, 1994, meeting.

MOTION: Upon a motion by Board Member Chenoweth and a second by Board Member
Perry, the Board voted 5 FOR and 0 OPPOSED to adjourn the December 14,
1993, meeting of the Allen Sign Control Board at 7:55 p.m.
