Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present
With a quorum of the committee members present, the regular meeting of the Public Art
Committee was called to order by Chair Carroll at 6:23 pm on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 in the
Parks and Recreation Conference Room at 301 Century Parkway, Allen, Texas.
Action Items
Approve minutes from the December 2, 2014 Regular Meeting
MOTION: Upon a motion made by committee member Benson and seconded by committee
member Gilbert, the committee voted seven (7) for and none (0) opposed to accept
minutes from the December 2, 2014 regular meeting as presented.
Discussion Items
2. Financial Review
Ms. Smeby reviewed the financial report for the Committee, noting the addition of $68,527 from
the Art Center of North Texas disbursement. She also reported that the funds set aside for the
installation of Chac have been released since the project is now complete.
3. Artist Selection for Public Art Project at Watters Branch Community Park
After reviewing the works of six artists the committee narrowed down to four candidates that they
would like to interview via Skype. A tentative date of February 12, was set for the interviews.
Possible interview questions will be sent to the committee, as well as the design consultant, for
review prior to the date of the interviews.

4. Ongoing Project Update
Mr. McComb reports that the Cottonwood Creek Trail Bridge project received five bids and the
project is expected to take between 165-180 days to complete once the construction contract has
been approved by City Council. He also shared that the design contract for Watters Branch
Community Park will go to City Council for approval on January 27
