Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present
With a quorum of the committee members present, the regular meeting of the Public Art
Committee was called to order by Chair Carroll at 6:01 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, 2015 in the
Parks and Recreation Conference Room at 301 Century Parkway, Allen, Texas.
1 Action Items
1. Approve minutes from the February 17, 2015 Regular Meeting
MOTION. Upon a motion made by committee member Gilbert and seconded by committee
member Bennett, the committee voted seven (7) for and none (0) opposed to accept
minutes from the February 17, 2015 regular meeting as presented
2. Consider Extension of LIFE Exhibit
After reviewing the background of the piece for the benefit of new committee members, the terms
of the current contract with artist, Connor Walden, and a short discussion by the committee the
following motion was brought forth.
MOTION* Upon a motion made by committee member Bennett and seconded by committee
member Barry, the committee voted seven (7) for and none (0) opposed to request
the removal of the LIFE Exhibit by June 1, 2015.

3. Financial Review
With there being no updates to the committee's financial position, a current list of approved
allocations was distributed without any further discussion.

4. Ongoing Project Updates
Mr. McComb shared that the contract for the design portion of the Watters Branch Public Art
project has been sent to May and WalkinsDesign, LLC and that they are in the process of working
through the City's insurance requirements. Hopefully the contract will be finalized within the
next week. At this point it is expected that the artists may conduct a site visit as early as June.
Mr. McComb also reported that with the installationof Wave Machine, developer Wynn Jackson
will be voluntarily incorporating public an along the hike and bike trail that will be constructed
within their new development.
On the Cottonwood Creek Trail bridge project. Mr. McComb has been in communication with
Bill FitzGibbons on bridge drawings, specifically focusing on the concrete and the size of the
panels as well as compliance with National Building Codes. Currently the ribbon cutting for the
bridge is projected for September 2015
5. Public Art Master Plan Discussion
Prior to the meeting, committee members were asked to begin to review the existing Public An
Master Plan and bring forward any items that may need specific attention during the update.
Several members shared items relating to the roles of the Allen Arts Alliance versus the Public
Art Committee. Committee members are encourage to continue their review and discussions will
continue at the May meeting.
6. Board Evaluations
The committee worked collectively to complete the form distributed by the City Secretary's
Office.
