REGULAR MEETING
OF
THE TOWN COUNCIL, TOWN OF ALLEN, TEXAS
March, 12, 1964
Members present as follows; Mayor Gentry T. Jones
Aldermen; Phil Pringle, Dean Sears, B. J. Enloe and
R. B. Whisenant ,
Members absent ; C. E. Ottaway
Mr. Hicks and Mr. Skiles were present at this meeting.
Mayor Jones informed the council that he had not instructed Mr.
Orr to contact the owner of Tract #2 as set out in the Adams and
Armstrong survey. Mr. Hicks states that the council will have to
make an offer on said tract in writing after conferring with the
City Attorney.
Discussion regarding the Federal Grant.
Motion was made by B, J. Enloe to answer Federal Grant in the
affirmative. Also to have the City Attorney make an offer on
said Tract #2. Seconded by Dean Sears. Motion Passed--Four Ayes/
Noes none,
The City Council proposed that the City Attorney be authorized to
offer $725.00 per acre for Tract #2.
Motion by Phil Pringle that the Mayor go ahead with the $50,000.00
Bond issue that was already set up for Sewer purposes . Seconded by
Dean Sears. Motion passed--Four Ayes/ Noes none.
Motion by B. J. Enloe to replace light at U. S. Post Office Building
and at the Allen High School, Seconded by R. B. Whisenant. Motion
passed--Four Ayes/Noes none.
Council recommended that Mayor Jones get bids for street work to be
done on following streets : West Ave. B North from West First Street
to North Second Street West, Then North 2nd Street West to West
Ave. C North. Council also discussed the possibility of continuing
street improvement on West Ave. B North from North 2nd Street West
to North 3rd Street West and North 3rd Street West to West Ave. C
North. Specks to be furnished by the City Engineers.
Motion by B. J. Enloe to get bids on street work discussed , Also
Mayor to check width of West Ave. B North to Post Office. Seconded
by R. B. Whisenant, Motion passed--Four Ayes/ Noes none.
Motion by R. B. Whisenant to put sewer and water lines on large city
map presented by Herod and Skiles. Seconded by B. J . Enloe , Motion
passed--Four Ayes/Noes none.
Motion by B. J . Enloe to pay current bills, Seconded by R. B.
Whisenant. Motion passed--Four Ayes/ Noes none.
