Want Allen to always look as if "Company was Coming to Visit'
Underdeveloped areas just as important as developed
Edie McMillion gave an overview of the Annual Trash Off on April 5, 1997 and the need for City groups
to help clean up. This event is held every year on the first Saturday in April. It is a national trash -off observed
by all fifty (50) states.
Edie McMillion shared with the Committee that the National Tree Trust will be giving the City of Allen 600
sapling trees "free." The containers for the saplings should arrive sometime this month with the trees arriving
the first week in April. The trees will be five (5) different varieties of oak that should grow well in our area.
When they are ready to be planted in the ground (approximately two years) they will be planted in our City
Parks, medians etc Tim Dentler, Park Superintendent assisted Edie with the request for "free" trees. Parks
and Recreation will he transplanting them into containers that the Tree Trust supplies. This will be a good work
project for our committee and we should try to get the Allen American to take pictures. Tim Derider is
arranging for a place to keep the trees. Tun Derider is arranging for several Eagle Scouts to care for the trees.
Tim and Edie will be keeping a close vigil on the trees so they will thrive and survive.
Chair Owen feels she thinks it is very important for us to have a Booth at the Annual SpnngFest to help
mise money as a non-profit campaign to help Keep Allen Beautiful We will research pricing on a booth and
compile information to hand out to residents on Keeping Allen Beautiful, illegal dumping, backyard composting,
etc.

needed to be aware of this possibility and how it could affect the air quality
